Sincere question

I have no intention on offending any users or vendors but i cant help but to feel annoyed.

Question is, why are mods closing/deleting threads that are related to vendors.. especially when sensitive issues are being discussed.

I know the mods are just doing their jobs (and i definitely respect that) but why not just let the discussion go on as long as neither is crossing the line. Not to meantion, the vendors will be given a chance to explain the situation if there is a problem.

Threads can often derail, as a single customer's bad experience does not mean the company as a whole is bad. It also looks bad. For the sake of keeping things in one piece, these threads are locked or removed so that it is up to the individual customers to deal with issues with the vendor.

Then why not delete offending comments and leave the rest behind?

Whenever I ask why a thread closed the answer is always the same. It is obvious.
Not to me or I would not waste the time asking. 370Purist's answer is a great one. I wish the moderators CLOSED the thread with a comment too. :tiphat:

Sometimes the way a vendor handles the situation tells a lot about the company. Deleting offensive comments is a good way to keep te thread on track.

Locking and deleting threads will only make it look like the mods are trying to cover up stuff.

Once again, i enphasis that i have no intention to offense, just stating my honest opinion

to question the mods is to question the forum which in turn is questioning the people who use the forum, so you my friend are indirectly questioning me. :bowrofl:

Jut in general, if the people can keep it somewhat civil, the thread never gets closed. Threads get closed when the users start bashing each other, or other members start trolling (as mentioned).
Why don't we just delete the offending posts? We do! We ALWAYS attempt to simply clean a thread first, but that rarely works. People just keep trolling/bashing, and quite simply, the mods don't want to invest their entire days staying on top of the mess of people who can't keep it civil.

Edit: I should say that I don't speak for any other mod or AK. ;]

+1

Frost and Triples do a pretty good job most times. I agree that sometimes threads get closed prematurely though. It's like they're fortune tellers and know when a thread is about to derail before it happens.

(Frost- send over Lotto numbers for Powerball, thanks)

Also if you have a serious problem with the vendor that you can't work out on your own, you can always appeal to the mods/AK/whomever for arbitration.

A thoughtful, coherent PM to a mod where you cc the vendor and ask for them to mediate would probably get you further than having a verbal slapfight on the forums.
