Not sure if this is the right forum sub category...

But why do I see the word "BORKED" or "BORK"?

I assume it has something to do with posting links or am i off base?

shumby 03-04-2009 06:34 AM

kdo2milger 03-04-2009 07:20 AM

urban dictionary says...

borked-To have totally f'ed something up. Usually by doing something stupid. Specifically used to describe technology that is broken

kdo2milger 03-04-2009 07:22 AM

ah ok, thought i was loosing it...

another def of it from the same website

borked - The term "Borked" or "Borking" originated with conservative talk show hosts (primarily Rush Limbaugh) to describe someone who is denied something earned simply because they either aren't politically correct enough or aren't trusted - usually without cause. The usage is derived from Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork who though eminently qualified was deemed too "conservative" to serve as a Supreme Court judge.

looks like mods are "moderating" certain things...

Are you using a different computer than normal? When something is borked, its normally a youtube video or atleast that was the case when I was using my laptop at the inlaws. AK helped me figure it out.

It means the computer you are using doesn't allow youtube. When you use a computer that does (i.e. your home computer), you'll see the video embeded.

BTW, you can embed high quality youtube videos Now! :excited:

"Borked" shows when you incorrectly paste a YouTube video in a thread (like I have too many times). You have to explicitly follow the instructions given below to avoid being borked:

Regular Bork

HQ Bork

AK370Z 03-05-2009 01:38 AM

BanningZ and socal is correct. You'll see BORKED when you are using a computer with youtube blocked or if you improperly embed a youtube video. This why I always encourage forum members to include the youtube link right below the embeded video.

kustomZ 03-09-2009 08:01 AM

Youtube was acting weird yesterday. I would try to watch a video, and it would tell me it was no longer available. I would refresh the screen, and it would come up. It did that a few times throughout the day. I also saw the Borked show up here on the thread that semetex posted about the exhaust.

dlmartin81 03-14-2009 01:20 AM

I've been having this problem too on Firefox. However, in IE the videos display fine. It must be a browser incompatibility issue with Youtube. Perhaps it's some plugin that is missing or misconfiguration.

AK370Z 03-14-2009 01:24 AM

I suggest you guys to post the original youtube link on top and below the embeded video. Like this

YouTube - 370Z w/ Stillen Exhaust & Berk Tech HFCs: Launch Clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyZ1wryQ0C4

Thanks.

Sure, I'll try to remember to do that but this happens not only with the videos that I post, it's with all posted videos.

Again, I only experience this with Firefox, and I do have the latest version (3.0.7).

kdo2milger 03-16-2009 05:25 AM

I have discovered why im getting borked!

I have windows vista ultimate sp2 64-bit installed...with that I have 64-bit IE, so when I try to view threads thru 64-bit IE with embeeded youtube I get borked.

However when I view those same threads thru 32-bit IE, I don not get borked.

I've concluded that it is a IE 64-bit glitch. I also cannot view adobe flash thru 64-bit IE, so I keep both a 32-bit and 64-bit IE icon in my leftside task bar that way I can view adobe flash.

I am unsure as to why adobe has not released a flash for 64-bit yet, it has been this way since i installed 64-bit vista almost a year ago...
