The For Sale Section

AK, I'm usually browsing through the classified sections for parts, but it appears that people usually post new FS threads without any pictures or accurate descriptions of what they are selling.

A suggestion that I have is to require mandatory pictures of the item(s) that is on sale and include a sheet of paper with the sellers username, date, and the forum name on there. This is something that is required in the other forums that I am involved with.

Its just a suggestion to improve the site.

I think this should only be implemented on high value items above $500... I came from clublexus and I was VERY pleased with there rules... ANY high priced item needs to have a vouch from an ESTABLISHED member of the forum and anything high dollar I the take a picture with a piece of paper thing... I think its worthless if you really wanted to you could find a car with a set of wheels you are trying to sell and take a picture...

MY favorite rules were:
1. You must post both a detailed description and an asking price.

3. No spamming multiple classifieds forums with your for sale items.

4. High dollar sales. Members who have recently joined our forum or those members with less than 300 posts (regardless of join date) who post high dollar items for sale may have their threads closed or removed due to the increased risk to our members. High dollar items are generally those over $500 but may be set lower based on our classifieds moderator teams discretion. All members selling high dollar items should be prepared and proactive in offering references from other CL members who know them, on other forums, etc. This is referred to as a 'vouch', and the voucher must post directly and publicly in your for sale thread.

Moderators and members may ask for vouches to make sure someone who is known to our Club Lexus community knows the seller and/or has inspected the item being sold. Vouchers for high dollar sales are expected to personally know the member you're vouching for and will need to commit to be personally involved if there is any issue with the sale or product being sold. The member selling the item is reponsible for proactively contacting the vouching member and having them post in their thread or PM the moderator who closed their thread requesting a vouch. Don't wait to be asked, as your thread may be deleted.

8. "Bumping" and "relisting" rules. You can push your thread up (bump) no more then 10 times total."Bumps" from other members also count towards the total for each thread. Once a thread is dead you can relist it in two weeks from the last day you bumped your item (or the date the thread was closed at moderators discretion depending on bump frequency). You can relist your item 3 times total, after you must sell it elsewhere.

this is the one thing I really want on implemented on this forum.
11. No 'testing the waters' or 'possibly for sale' posts. Either you're selling the item or you're not. If you're not sure, don't post it here until you are ready. Please do your research on your asking price before posting the item for sale.

Either you want to ******* sell it or not. feelers are stupid

In all seriousness, that is a good idea. Relisting after so much time has passed to clean up the section and keep items that still are for sale fresh. That section has alot of things that have already been sold but the threads are still there. I'm sure we could clean up some space by cleaning that area out a bit?

Jeffblue 07-13-2010 12:12 PM

where do we list items we steal off of other peoples cars?

seriously, i think this is a good idea though, although 300 posts might be a little high, but definitely being a member for a while and having a fair a mount of posts is a good idea.

and if they are expensive OEM parts, or easily stolen items (Wheels) they should have to post a pic of their Z with a name on a piece of paper next to it if they are a new member

From what I have read on this forum you have had you wheels stolen before. I dont blame you for wanting every possible precaution being in place. But, even though you agree, you saying that 300 posts is too high? Being an Established member on a forum means a lot more to me than a picture of you holding a piece of paper. That being said I think that if you are a new member with a low post count and an established member cant vouch (put their *** on the line to the whole forum should something go wrong) I think the thread should be closed. I tried to sell my volks when I had 83 posts and my thread was closed within 20 minutes cause I didnt have a vouch... Sure I was pissed at the time cause I wanted money but I was happy that the moderators of CL went out of there way to constantly protect forum members. It wasnt uncommon for someone on the forum to bitch about not getting an item as it was described, but the rate of people getting jacked straight out was lower then any other forum Ive seen. :tiphat:

How about a separate "sales" feedback rating system like ebay. Pictures no matter the price should be mandatory. There also has to be a better way of keeping track of items that are sold already.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will make the final classifieds rule soon.
