Moderators?

Every forum I belonged to had moderators along with admins to help with keeping control of spam, flaming, etc. Has that ever been considered here?

There are moderators. Trips seems to be one of the more active ones.

I thought trips was an admin?

An Admin is just a Super-Mod (or a Mod is just a Minor-Admin). Whatever you call him, Trips seems to do a lot of the mod'ing.

It has been. Trips usually is pretty active. He does a fantastic job and I trust him with his judgement. He is a great administrator. I try my best to do more but end up just doing the pms and decals etc:shakes head:. But I'm hoping to do more now that racing season is over and winter will creep here in Northeast (slower job sch too).

I'm very reluctant to assign mods bc of what I saw in front of my eyes happen to my350Z in 2006-2008 era. I am not sure how many of you remember, my350Z went from being one of the fun place to post/hangout to one of the worst forums on the internet very short time. It all happened when IB (internet brand) took over my350z (of course they did other forums too) and decided to assign about 15+ new mods for various sections. They didn't look at much. They asked for pms and whoever had better writing skills, whoever had more convincing skills, got the job. Within a year, the forum turned so bad, actually that is why The370Z is here. I saw all the bad things and decided to make a forum that had all the right things. Moderators are the MOST IMPORTANT ingredient of a forum. Bad moderators will turn a good forum into bad one. A good admin will always tell you that how his/her forum is portrayed on how good and mature the admins are.

So to answer your question, yes I want the forum to be as self efficient as possible. I have about 6 diff spam modules installed on the forum and I think they do pretty good job. I PERSONALLY accept each new members to the forum (as The370Z.com DO NOT have direct access without being approved by me). I have created strict forum rules and encouraged existing/old members to teach newer members whats right or wrong. For example, if one sees a street racing video in other forum, nothing will happen. But if one post in THE370Z, someone will instantly tell them it's not allowed (ask them to remove it) and someone will report the post right away. When members can take care of a forum among themselves, it's a beautiful thing. Though sometimes when I'm busy and so is Trips, it will be nice to have some help. I'll give that a thought in future.
