Rear ended

I live in Houston and my Nismo was rear ended today by a White Ford F-250 at 5:40PM at Clay rd and Eldridge pkwy.

We were both at a light completely stopped, and all of a sudden i had a big jolt.
the ford driver let go off the brake pedal when he was trying to calm his dog down or something.

bad fking day for me, I wanted to know if there are any reputable shops in Houston I can go to that can fix the rear bumper.

thanks for your input guys,

Call a lawyer. It's the first call I make whenever I get into an accident and it's not my fault.

Had the same thing happen to me. A lady in her civic somehow rear ended me when I was getting out of my community. Nothing serious. Just had her pay for a rear bump detail.

Did they have insurance?

Geesh, a little extreme for the type of accident he's describing. If the truck owner has insurance, and the repair is being paid for, what the heck is a lawyer needed for? I would do everything I could just to keep a lawyer out of this deal. Doesn't sound like the OP was injured, so what the heck is the need?

A lawyer can help if you're going to try to get diminished value.

man, that sucks. :(
Best of luck to you getting it all repaired... :)

Check with the Texas Insurance Commissioner's website, it should say if you can get paid for diminished value. In Kansas, it's a requirement that you be made 'whole', to include diminished value. Might be a great way to get some extra $$$ for a mod on the wish list. :)

1. What happens if a few days down the road you start feeling pain from the accident and don't have insurance? With a lawyer you can go to the doctor and get treatment for no money out of pocket.

2. You only have to deal with 1 person, the lawyer. They do ALL the legwork for you.

3. You might get some extra money out of the deal to help pay for unexpected expenses.

One downside is that the whole process gets drawn out now for a much longer period of time, but the lawyer is there to make sure that you get everything that's owed to you and that no one screws you. I've dealt with insurance companies enough to know that they will do anything and everything in their power to screw you.

I hope you got his insurance information and some pictures at the scene of the accident. If you did then just go somewhere reputable that will replace your back bumper. I was rear ended by an 18-wheeler just two weeks after I bought my Z. I took it to Nissan Body Shop and they estimated $1600. Fixed it very well.
