Well it looks like I will be putting on the front plate. I have never been a true fan of the plates off to the side so I may just go with the stock one. I have seen a lot of high-end cars that have the front plate on them and I don't think they look all that bad, however just like everyone else I hate the thought of putting holes in the front!!!

Front License Plates NOT Mandatory

Tx Legislature
I see and thank you for your post. My sources were the same, LegiScan and Tx Legislature OnLine. But I did not come across. Tha "Adjourned Sine Die" dated 03/12/2013. I think you are correct. It is a shame that it is so difficult for someone outside the law profession, to find actual up to date info. I am sorry I don't know how to add the link for the page I was looking at.
Mean while, my front plate will stay in the trunk. |
Itullos is right!
HB 657 was introduced Mar 12' 2013 which is Stage 1. And that's as far as it has gone. HB 625, which was listed in the NBCDFW link from sexZness, is about the penalty for driving without a license plate ( nothing stated about front or rear) is a misdemeanor with a max fine of $200. HB 625 , IMHO, is without a license plate whatsoever. So, I'm done with this trival bs.

Drove from Lubbock to Austin last month (before Sept. 1st) and was pulled over twice within 15 minutes for not having a front plate. Luckily, after much convincing, I was only given warnings. Not sure after this new legislation if I would get that lucky again. Especially with DPS' new digital trackers that records all past interactions, tickets or even warnings. =/
