brakes on my base model need some servicing. anybody have any recommended shops in the h-town area that won't charge an arm or leg?

awesome z if u dont want to do them yourself. however it is an easy diy. just dont forget to bleed them after.

Remove the cap on the brake fluid reservior and then use a C clamp and old pad to slowly compress the pistons so you don't have to bleed the lines.

Yes you can do that, however anytime u compress the piston there is a chance for air bubbles to enter the system. It may be overkill for most but in a performance vehicle i don't take chances. I've done it both ways and the pedal feels better after a bleed, much firmer.

also leaving the cap off the resivour invites moisture into the system. what i like to do is get a piece of wood as close to the rotor width and wedge that in the caliper right when i take it off. i still have to push the pistons in though just a tad to get new pads in. but yes a full brake bleed afterwards is a good idea. using a brake bleeder makes it easy!
