Default [HOU] Grandsport Speedway HPDE 4/22 $100 for all nissans!

High Performance Driver Education (HPDE)
Drive Your Own Car at Grandsport Speedway

April 22nd, 2012 is the next track day!

All cars are welcome!

All Nissan are only $100 for the day! (Including novices)

Groove union is designed specially for owners who want to drive in their own street car or racecar at GrandSport. We have several different run groups from raw novices with no experience to season pro's! If you do not have any track experience we can teach you the high performance skills in our novice class to drive your car on the track!
Novice

This is the first timer/beginners group. You will learn the basics of high performance driving. Instructors will work with you all the time to get you up to speed with others of your level. No passing is allowed. Novice level also includes the all important track etiquette information which includes how to get on and off the track safely, flags and track etiquette. Once you have mastered this level and a instructor has signed you off you can advance to the Bronze group. You may be asked to complete a multiple choice knowledge test before you are allowed on the track.

$225 per day(Sign up on line in advance and save $25 if you are one of the first 5 to sign up in your group)

Bronze

The bronze group is for drivers with limited track experience or those that have advanced from the Novice Group. Drivers in the Bronze Group will work under the direct supervision of an instructor. An instructor may ride along if asked by the student or an instructor may request to ride long with any driver in this group. Driver may lap on their own if the instructor directs them to. No passing is allowed. If a Bronze Group driver gets slowed behind traffic they will pull into the hot pit area and then a track official will place them onto the track in an area where they have more room to run. Sessions will be controlled with flags. You may be asked to complete a multiple choice knowledge test before you are allowed on the track.

$175 per day (Sign up on line in advance and save $25 if you are one of the first 5 to sign up in your group)

Silver

The Silver Group is for drivers that have advanced from the Bronze Group or drivers with several track days experience. Passing is allowed in designated areas and all passing must be completed before a point marked with cones. Sessions will be controlled with flags. You may be asked to complete a multiple choice knowledge test before you are allowed on the track.

$175 per day (Sign up on line in advance and save $25 if you are one of the first 5 to sign up in your group)

Gold

The Gold group is a run group where you go out and work on your skills and build seat time all by yourself. Passing is allowed in designated areas or when pointed by. You can run in this group with your piers as long as you like. If you wish to learn how to teach others between sessions while building seat time you can become an instructor and run for free. You may be asked to complete a multiple choice knowledge test before you are allowed on the track.

$175 per day(Sign up on line in advance and save $25 if you are one of the first 5 to sign up in your group)

Instructor

In this group you run for free for fun, build your skills and instruct in the other groups. Instructors run with the Gold or race group.

General Preparation for Groove Union - We recommend you arrive at the track early to ensure you can ready yourself and your car in a calm relaxed manner. Hmmmm sounds interesting. Not exactly sure which class I'd get placed in because I know all of the flags, how to drive and race properly, not affluent on etiquette though but I assume it's straight-forward.

Yeah 20 min intervals should be fine. It might've taken me 15 or 20 mins worth of drifting at MSR before it died. Also that was mid-summer.

What's the deal with tires? My current set is bald on the outside and good on the inside. I'm cambered to only the inside touches and because my coilovers are super stiff, when I corner the outside part never really touches.

Its up to u, there is no inspection. If u don't feel safe running those tires, then maybe think twice. Ira said tires and new pads are what we need.
Also, I just called and if u don't have a helmet, they rent them for $10

Guru, thanks for posting this event!

I signed up....had my Z for a week. I'll be the guy with the Silver sport on the trailer behind the silver F-150. Yes, mine is stock with the paper plates still on it haha. I've ordered most of the parts but I'm rolling factory tomorrow. Never done the track thing, super pumped.
