O&G 04-20-2012 09:55 PM

Yea, I'll be there. Helping Johnny move into his new house tomorrow. I need to get back on the dyno sometime soon so I can show you what WTQ looks like w/o a damn exhaust leak! RAWR! I'm actually looking forward to hearing your car with the Re-circ's, I bet it's going to sound sik!!!

Yesterday at the shop my METH line decided to burst and make fire, lucky I was on the dyno and not on the highway. I didn't have any damage, but if I were on the road, even my fire extinguisher would have been too late. My advice to anyone wanting to run methonal is use a braided line, my lines were no where near heat sources either :/ I got lucky! I'll be using the Snow Performance lines or doing a custom line setup in the future. This has happened to a few cars I know of using the AEM kit :( the other cars didn't make it out as well as me!

Robert_K 04-20-2012 10:25 PM

Damn! Good save. Considering running meth myself. Glad I'm a fireman. LOL!!!!

Always good to have a fireman around!!! I have a few pics of the aftermath, my car was dusted!! Lucky some good guys were around to put it out right when it flared up.

When I was working at EG I always kept a fire extinguisher next to the dyno.

Seriously, Professionally speaking, find a "BC" class extinguisher. "BC" type is meant for fuel based fires. An "ABC" is more for under your kitchen sink/household extinguisher. I'd also recommend at least a 10 pound extinguisher near the dyno.

O&G 04-20-2012 10:43 PM

Yea, I think I have an ABC in my car, thanks for the info. I'm not sure what was by the Dyno but it was a big boy that put it out instantly, yellow/white looking dust?

Ron 04-20-2012 10:50 PM

hold on I'll tell you... still have some in my eyes!

No problem. Yellow/White sounds like an "ABC." Nothing wrong with them, as you saw, and works great. That powder is the chemical and is designed to remove the oxygen from the fire. You had engine heat and the meth was the fuel. So w/o the oxygen it was extinguished. :tiphat:

Let me know if you, or anyone else, has questions. Fire protection is something we all forget about.

Anyone hitting up the Houston nissans meet tonight?

Compdoc777 04-27-2012 09:13 PM

Enjoying my oil cooler 24 row thermostatic. I can't get the cars oil above 200 degrees driving like psycho. Woohoo! Before I would be at 230 with a couple of revs.

Robert_K 04-27-2012 09:36 PM

I'll be home on the 11th!!!! 11 more days!

MacLean 04-28-2012 12:26 AM

I figured I make a post after going through all 24 pages of posts here. I just bought a '12 Nismo GM two weeks ago (4/13). I'm enjoying it & I previously had a '08 G37S AT that I traded in for the Nismo. Before the '08 G37S, I had a '06 G35 M6.
Thnxs,

Christopher
