ZdayZ May 17-20. Who's going?
I've already registered and booked my room. I know O&G (Justin) has already done so. Anybody here would like to roll with us?
We leave early on the 16th and return on the 21st. If you want to go, spaces are running out at Fontana Inn (host lodge) and you should call NOW if you wanna stay there. Make you sure you mention ZdayZ to get the special rate. All you need to reserve is payment for 1 night before taxes. Do not trust their website for reservations. 800-849-2258 ask for Donna. Check ZDayZ 2012 for more info. Register here Resort's page: Fontana Village Resort. A Great Smoky Mountain Destination! |

I hate this wait we will be going threw. It seems as it's just around the corner. Plus I signed up for ZNational already and that's defiantly months and months away.
i made the drive in one day (to san antonio)... it wasn't easy by myself but if i was in a convoy it would have been much better!
I drove to Canada from Houston pretty much non-stop, it was hell alone, I look @ truck drivers with a whole new respect now. The drive should be better with a little convoy and the scenery will be great once we get out of Texas. I'm going to plan a route soon.
Yes! You do that, if I do it we'll end up in Mexico lol

LOL its gonna be awesome..can't wait! Check this out:
Just realized if I tow my car, I'll be towing it down the tail! ROFL, I grew up driving in Hawaii so not too worried about it but I still havn't seen this road! Epic end to a 950 mile journey! Going to have to stop for a cup of something before I tackle it!
There are some pics of Lou Fusz towing his 300ZX in on The Dragon with a Ford F250 :icon17:
Nice link man!
Step 1: Watch for crazy bikers, some may be intoxicated.
Step 2: Mite just drive the car and have someone drive the Truck. Looks badass! |

We'd be swangin all the way down the tail @ 20 mph lol |
That is exactly what we need... still can't find a place to rent one :(
I mite be able to get my hands on one of these but I think I'd try to find somewhere to store it prior to the tail. Don't think I want to haul an extended trailer down that road after watching the video of the 18 wheelers trying it, lol. We could meet the Dallas peeps in Shreveport and it wouldn't add too many miles on our end.

Shreveport it is, c'mon Dallas!... Justin so we have to ride part of the Dragon to get to the hotel? We might be able to find someone local here on the forum that will let you store the hauler if that's the case.

How about this? It's avoiding Hwy129 all together and goes through Shreveport. 16.5 hrs MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map
16.5 hours is no joke. That is an option though, I'm going to look into a few more options and see what I come up with.
How about leaving the 15th we drive for 8hrs, sleep somewhere and drive the rest the next day?
