Default Mother's Tint (SATX)

I would not recommend the Latigo Plaza location on Marbach to anyone. First off, The manager seems to be more concerned with his phone and hanging out with his friends outside the store than the customers. I watched 2 customers walk in the store and have to wait for service for no reason at all while he's chatting outside with his girlfriend.

Second. When I got my car back the idiot that tinted my widows pulled all the way up to the curb (my heart dropped when I saw it), but there was no damage. While I was driving home I heard a rattling from the trunk area. I pulled over to inspect and found the trunk was left open. FAIL! When I closed the trunk, I saw that there was a smudge from the cord of the heat gun I plan on getting my car detailed so this doesn't bother me that much.

Oh yeah, my car now smells like a restroom, but I don't want to nitpick lol

As far as the tint job, they did a good enough job, but it's obvious that they don't give a crap about you or your car.

Sorry you chose that location and Mother's as a whole... I feel the same about them.

When I moved to Austin, I interviewed at Mothers on S. Lamar. Didn't take the job.

'nuff said.

Oh yeah, they put a little, round sticker on my window a tat bigger than a quarter. It's in between the film and the glass so I can't take it off. I called the manager and asked if it served a purpose. He said it was state law and for the warranty... All that little sticker says is where I got the job done. Is this guy pulling my leg or what cause I'll go to another location and have it removed.

No idea. I was interviewing as an alarm/stereo tech and I know very little about tint. I do know that shops can be fined for installing tint that's too dark. If you don't trust the guys at Mothers word, call another tint shop and ask if it's law.

What's the sticker say? If it's like a promotional sticker then they're probably full of it. If it looks like an official state issued sticker or something, then I'm sure they're being honest. Like I said, call another tint shop. There's some high end places in NW Austin I'm sure, and they'll probably be more than happy to tell you the truth.

EDIT: Just saw your post above. That's what I get for opening a thread before lunch, and replying without refreshing lol

This thread makes me want to move back to Austin. Can one of you guys swing by P. Terrys and pick me up a burger? Or maybe eggs zapatino @ Magnolia?

EDIT: Short Stop is a suitable replacement for P Terrys.

I have had nothing but bad luck with Mothers. I called a while back to inquire about having my jeep jk tinted. The guy had such a bad attitude it put me off. It was like I was bothering him by trying to give him money. Some time passed, and I traded my JK for a Z and thought I would consult them again. This time I went to the shop on 281 in person and still got the feeling I was bothering them by trying to get some tint. I will be taking all future work to Custom Sounds off San Pedro. They did some work for me on my JK and, although pricey, they were a class act and I highly recommend their work.
