Time For More BOOST!!!
Fellow Gearheads;
The time has come... for more BOOST! Looks like right after Christmas I will be placing the order to start building my long block. Kyle over at Import Parts Pro in Spring will be doing the engine assembly. The Z will be headed to PowerFab off of 1960 after the first of the year for installation and tuning. Hopefully I'll be seeing 600+whp by March. Below you can find "The List." Hope everyone is doing well and has a GREAT Christmas! ~Robert IPP Custom Stage 3 Long Block: ~~ Cosworth Rods, CP 8.5:1 Pistons w/ Ceramic/Moly coating on the piston tops & skirts ~~ ACL Trust Washers, Main & Rod Bearings ~~ ARP Main Studs & Rod Bolts, L19 Head Studs ~~ ATI Street Damper Crank Pulley ~~ Heads Redecked, Ported Intake/Exhaust Runners, 5-Angle Radius Cut Valve Job ~~ JWT C2 {261* w/ .456 (11.58mm) lift Intake & Exhaust} Cams ~~ JWT Heavy Duty Springs & Shims ~~ Viton Valve Seals ~~ OEM Gasket kit with Cometic Head gaskets ~~ OEM VQ35 "Rev-Up" Oil Pump ~~ OEM VQ35 Pathfinder Rear Cooling By-Pass ~~ Nismo Low Temp Thermostat ~~ Z Speed Performance Aluminum Undershroud Fuel: ~ CJM Stage 2 Return Fuel System w/ Blue Billet Fuel Rails ~~ Aeromotive 340lph In-Tank Fuel Pump ~~ Injector Dynamics 1000cc Injectors EMS: ~ HalTech Plug-In Pro ECU Replacement EMS ~~ HalTech Boost Control Solenoid ~~ HalTech Dual Wideband Kit w/ 2 Sensors ~~ Dual Wideband Gauge Drivetrain: ~ Nissan CD009 (2004+) 6sp Transmission ~~ Carbonetic Twin Disc Carbon Clutch w/ Carbon/Steel Flywheel ~~ Quaife Helical LSD ~~ SPL Solid Diff Bushings Exhaust: ~ Greddy RS Cat-Back Exhaust ~ PowerFab 3" PolyDyn Coated Downpipes ~ PolyDyn Coated Manifolds & Turbine Housings Suspension: ~ KW Variant 3 Coilovers ~ SPL Front Upper Arms ~ SPL Rear Camber Links ~ SPL Eccentric Lockout Kit Wheels & Tires: ~ HRE P43SC in Satin Black ~~ 19x9.5 +20 & 19x11 +25 ~ Toyo R888 ~~ 265/30-19 & 305/30-19 Interior/Exterior: ~ Sparco Harness Bar ~ Tommy Karia Shift Knob ~ '06+ Bi-HID Headlights ~~ Custom painted by LightWerkz |

Nice build!! Lol ur car is gone for some surgery!
Thanks. Forgot to mention that Cosworth has phased out their 8.8, 96mm pistons. So I opted for the CP's instead.
Did you blow it up or just wanted more boost?
No the engine didn't blow. Just want "More POWER!" LOL
Still one of the cleanest Z's in town! MOAR POWA!!!!!
Thanks!
Nice. Hopefully, you'll be back from Iraq when I am back from Afghanistan. I would like to see the beast in person.

Haltech needs to get w/ their **** and release VQ37VHR unit already, cars been out for 3 yrs! Ugh!!!! Grats anyways! Cars going to run very well w/ that unit.
Thanks! Yeah, surprised there isn't more tuning options for the VQ37.

Really all there is for the tuner to do via UpRev for power is (1) Precisely calibrate the MAF voltage tables with a known-good high precision O2 sensor, because the MAF units have manufacturing variance and the stock voltage tables are only an approximation, and (2) Set custom A:F targets in a table based on RPM and fueling input. Given appropriately-calibrated MAF voltage tables the A:F values here are going to be followed very literally, so the only tradeoff here is that if you go a little *too* lean to try to pick up power, the ECU's going to back off your timing advance automatically to compensate for the slightly increased knock, which may come out worse than leaving it richer in the first place. For boosted applications it becomes more necessary to screw with the K-fuel multiplier to get everything scaling in the correct range, and to set spark advance to a reasonable starting point so that the ECU doesn't have to learn the correct values "the hard way" via excessive boosted knock. But still, I think the bottom line is we don't see much ECU work for the VQ37 because the cases where it really matters are fewer than on past engines. |
I think that's why the boys over @ GTM placed those tiny METH nozels slightly ahead of the MAFS on one of their builds. Kinda trick the ECU into keeping the desired timing. I think I'm going to try a similar setup.

So apparently the Greddy Racing Ti-C exhaust is discontinued as well. So I've opted for the Greddy RS exhaust. Same 70mm piping and looks like same canisters. Only different is the exhaust tips are not burnt titanium. Which, to be honest, I prefer.

Talked to PowerFab yesterday. Was told the following was ordered and the engine would be pulled this week.
~ Greddy Exhaust ~ Carbonetic clutch & flywheel ~ Quaife diff ~ CJM fuel return w/ rails ~ ID 1000cc injectors |

Little update:
So the Greddy exhaust & Quaife made it in. Engine work has begun. Waiting for some pictures to be sent. I'll be ordering the following on Friday; ~ Nissan CD009 6sp transmission ~ IPP Chromoly Pivot Ball ~ Nismo Roller Bearing ~ Haltech Platinum 350Z/G35 Pro Plug-In ~ Haltech Dual Channel Wideband Controller ~ Haltech Boost Control Solenoid ~ Haltech Air Temp Sensor |
Haltech or :gtfo2: good **** man! Wish I had a dumptruck full of cash like you!! This Z is going to be racecar! I'm jelly again damnit!!

Well I went with the HRE P43SC wheels in Satin Black. 19x9.5 & 19x11. HRE is going to select the offsets to make sure they clear my StopTechs. Looking to run a 255/30-19 & 305/30-19 tire. Any suggestions? Leaning toward the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
Looks like I will be able to stuff a 265/30 & 305/30-19 into my Z's wheel wells. Here is an owner with same wheel sizes running a 275/30 & 305/30; MY350Z.COM Forums - View Single Post - Official Aggressive Wheels & Fat Tires Thread
Also through more research I'm gonna go with the Toyo R888 tires. http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/t...50Z/Zed004.jpg |
Nice! looking forward to seeing this finished!
Thanks! Updates on your build?
Waiting 3in exhaust from FI, I hope it gets here this coming week. I'm also thinking on not upgrading to the GTX series turbos and keep the GTRS. Use the money on a LSD instead.

Thinking about the Quaife as well or the OSGiken.
I went with the Quiafe cause I've used them before. Haven't done really any research on the OSGilken but have heard good reports. The Quiafe is more towards a street/road course gearhead.
