emission test?
I have a berk hfc/HKS exhaust setup, but I was wondering if state of Texas regulate any test pipe/long tube header/SC/TT
I saw California regulation is very strict and I heard that Texas is trying to enforce the same law as CA. Any thoughts? |
They do and dont, if you dont have CEL, you are good to go. You also have HFC and not Test Pipes so you are good to go. Most places dont even look under there.

:iagree:
Based on the inspection criteria, you're good to go with HFC's. Texas Department of Public Safety - Inspection/Rejection Criteria |
That brings to mind a question I've had for a while:
If I install equipment to allow for better breathing (i.e. something like Stillen intakes) without modifying the exhaust system in any way, would I be at any risk of not passing an emissions test? |
intake, HFC, exhaust won't put you in any risk.
testpipe has the highest risk, header may... |
groovy.
Thanks for the info. |
If they plug your car in and the ECU tells the computer your good, your good. Be warned that if you just cleared a CEL and you try to plug in right away you will fail. I don't know what it is on a Z yet but on newer domestics you need to drive about 150 miles between a certain speed/rpm before there is enough time for it to gather the info it needs to pass you.
That being said, if you go to a strict inspector, they will look under your car for cats. I have had two inspectors fail for no visual cats on the car even with the ECU saying it had them... lol I ran a small dealership a few years ago that focused on ZO6/Cobra/STI/Evo so I can tell you who to use in Arlington/Mansfield ;) |
