Tint in Houston
So I have had my car for almost a week now and I am ready to get some tint on it to help keep it cool & look nice.
Things I know: ~Different level of tints & quality. Probably going with the legal limit of Texas or maybe 5% below. ~Does the Z come with tint already, can it be removed so they are not just laying over more tint on top? My friend got tint work done at Stereo EFX about a year ago and things look good on it, no problems yet. Any other options or thoughts?

Well I went with a co-workers suggestion, they know the owner so and it is closer than Stereo EFX. The shop is called Executive tint/motoring, I went with ceramic tint at 30% on the main windows & 20% on the back, so it is all 100% legal and should stop plenty if not all the Texas heat.
After it is done and dry I will get some pictures for those who want to see.

I went there didnt have good experience. I got the same tint only 35% all around. I told it back cuz the passenger window had a couple of bubbles and a couple of scratches. Upon taking the film off they notified me that the window was scratched not the tint. They acted like its niot their fault. Like if I scatched it and took it to them. I didnt like the way I was treated with the clear bra issues I had either. I laid down a 1000 bucks for the tint and bra to be told "hey if bubbles form on the tint they will go away give it time" and "the stretch marks on the clearbra are just gona have to stay there" instead of replacing the film. I went there 2 times after the first intsall. Straight outta work after working a graveyard shifts. Tint is fine to get there but clear bra BEWARE! Im gona take the car some where else to get the mirrors redone after I finish with my MOD's. Just my 2 C's.

Good to know, I think any tint shop is pretty 50/50 it seems. If things work out in the end you are happy, but any little problem and they will try to look as if you did something wrong. Sorry to hear about your experience there, I skipped clear bra since I had to leave Friday for Austin and it takes awhile. Now that I am back I see a few dings which at this point I am just going to go with nothing.

I've heard Exculsive is 50/50 they're right however about the tint as long as there not HUGE bubbles usually a day or so in Houston heat will smooth them out. Stereo FX I would recomend I know the guy and he did a good job on my STI. Worked on it til it was what I wanted ..... and he gives great combo deals.

I need to get some tints and the shop that did my last car closed or moved or something, aka I can't find it. Now that some more time has passed and more people have gotten their cars anyone else have any recommendations?

The shop I went to did a good job with me, replaced my driver mirror when it was peeling. Tonmed did not have a good experience, and I have seen the car and can say they did a "ok" job overall, they should have stepped up and fixed somethings. I can probably say I might have gotten better service because I know someone who knows the owner, he went with me and got my deal and I spoke with the owner directly and he applied my tint.

My neighbor do tint for a side job. He use to tint for David McDavid but stop due to his kid's activity (b/c it's too much work). He still does it but only through "word of mouth".
I asked and see how much he'll charge to do a 370 on Iceman's (370 member) behalf and he said: $90 (I think) Good guy - been doing tint for years. I don't know what his warranty is, you can ask him. I'll PM you his # and you can ask him for further details. |
