Don't Go to PowerFab and get dynoed

They may be the nicest in people in the world but their DynoJet is flat out broken. It failed to work on both my 2010 Nismo and Ron's 2011 Nismo.

Here's proof:

If you're still confused. Those numbers are in and out, all over the place, and the Nismo revs to 7500rpm where I "should" be making my best power.

They say the have an AWD mustang dyno. Will the AWD part affect my results?

too bad guys

There's a well-maintained Dyno Dynamics over at EngineLogics on the SW side of town too, I highly recommend them for dyno runs.

Did they explain what the issue was?

They said the issue was my car. HIGHLY unlikely being how new it is. Ron's Nismo did the same thing. He might've gotten up to 7000rpm, MAYBE. His car is BRAND new. I didn't complain, I just won't go back. They took time out their day and did everything properly (from what I saw). I just will be going to JTran or DD now.

was it tire slip?

I don't know. But they ran the car through out the whole RPM band all the way up until 7500, on the car. But the dyno didn't read much after 6000.

how many miles were on the tires when you ran?

under 10,000. Ron's have full tread and he had similar results.

neveucd 07-26-2011 03:40 PM

Wouldn't a Mustang AWD dyno read around those numbers, since they usually come out lower then most?

I don't know what the deal is about the AWD part but yeah mustang dyno "typically" run a bit lower than DynoJet.

A dyno is a tuning tool and not bragging rights. Synack, I'm wondering if the pick-up wire (reads tq/rpm) was picking up two sets of spark plugs.

Why would it?

Either way, I'm going to go somewhere else. Don't want the hassle. If it happens again at the next shop then I know it's our cars, but the likelihood of that is..... well.... very slim.

Yeah but it was awesome. Plus, keep that DJ, he was playing sick tunes.

O&G 08-01-2011 06:37 PM

Yea Sven is badass, he has a live stream online of his music! Good stuff, I'll try and dig it up!

Awesome, I'm a DJ as well and I gave him mad props when I was there. Trance is #1.

Powerfab said it was ECU noise + bad shielding on all Nissans causing interference, etc etc. I am not sure. Attached are my run files. The first 4 runs were baseline, no mods. The last 3 are after FI CBE and Stillen G3's.

Ron 08-01-2011 08:18 PM

Here is a pic of what I think are the best 2 runs before and after the mods. It stopped recording after 6.5k so I don't know what I'm really putting down.

Conditions sucked too:
88 deg 51% humidity for baseline
93deg 42% humidity for "modded" run

And they are not nice.. Customer service there sucks balls.

Synack 08-01-2011 08:22 PM

I just compared our dynos. Your best baseline and my best. I gained 13whp with my exhaust and HPS intake over your baseline. So its somewhat safe to say those mods combined net 13whp.

Haha, I was just trying to be "courteous".
