Last minute notice, I know, but I'm going to run some laps at Houston Motorsports Ranch on Thursday (8th). Reserve now if you wanna run some!

Red Meat & Race Fuel

Register today if you plan on eating some BBQ so they can get a count on food.

Awesome. I just went for my first time two weeks ago, and now I'm scheduled for a Driver's Edge class there in early Nov. I was planning to hit it once or twice more in-between just to work out some little car setup things. Main one I'm focused on right now is software setup on my Android phone for recording some lap data. I've got TrackMaster and aLapTimerHD loaded on my phone now and a 5Hz external bluetooth GPS coming in on wednesday (QT-818X). I'll see if I can ditch work early enough to head out there the same day as you on Thurs.

How did you like trackmaster? Would you recommend either?

I'll be recording my laps on an HD Hero cam, with a mount in the car.

Last time I just recorded some video on my phone, no "telemetry" type software, so I'm really not sure how either one works out in practice yet. Hope to find out Thursday. I suspect in the long run I'll end up buying some commercial system with better g-force sensors, etc. But for now, I may as well explore the cheap options since I already have a decent android phone and the 5Hz bluetooth GPS is only about $70.

The two I'm looking at now are aLapRecorder HD and Trackmaster. I think the primary issue is going to be the accuracy and stability of the phone's G-force measurements, and of course how shaky my phone mount seems to be. If I could solve the shaky phone mount, one or the other of these packages might do me about as much good as the expensive options like TraqMate, etc.
