Houston 370s?

So how many 370 owners do we have on here in Houston so far? I've seen a few that are buying soon, but not many actual owners. We need to meet up somewhere while the group is still small and its easy to do :)

So far in the almost 2 months I've been driving mine, I haven't seen a single other one on the road.

iceman21_23 04-06-2009 08:26 AM

im in league city just out side of houston... had mine for about 3 weeks now, and have yet to see any 370z on the road since they came out.

theDreamer 04-06-2009 09:29 AM

:( Waiting on mine, though I found one in Austin that fits my needs, debating if it is worth it.

iceman21_23 04-06-2009 09:33 AM

dreamer what are you looking for? specs?

370z base (black), manual, sport package, splash guards. Other options are not required but will not say no if they come with it. Also looking for invoice pricing, Mossy Nissan has one in stock but he wants 600 over invoice for it, if he says invoice I would buy it. :(

iceman21_23 04-06-2009 10:20 AM

so later on this summer we are going to have to organize a cruise to galveston... but besides that we need to meet sometime before april is over with.

You did that just to spite me. :shakes head:

;)

iceman21_23 04-06-2009 10:33 AM

lol no but i'd love to have at least a bi-monthly meeting for all of us.

epod86 04-06-2009 02:45 PM

can a little old pony join you? I swear I'll get a Z when I can afford a new car.

I know someone in my apartment/town houses complex has a black one, but I didn't get to see if it was sports pack or anything. He passed by at night when I went to meet the pizza guy. He was a little confused when I started walking away and after the Z. In the unlikely event the owner sees this, feel free to pm me.

wstar 04-06-2009 04:49 PM

Let's set something up for this weekend. You not-yet-Z-owners are invited, it's a good chance to see the real thing up close :). Any suggestions? A central-ish place where we can get a cheap bite to eat and check out car stuff in the parking lot?

iceman21_23 04-06-2009 04:54 PM

Yeah the Easter thing rules out Sunday for sure, but Saturday would be fine. I'm northwest from you, the vicinty of the intersection of I-10 / Beltway 8 on the west side.

Ditto, though I'm further west, closer to 6. Can't say I'm an expert on the area, but my Saturday should be free.

While no Z for me, I do have a Avic F90BT that's been making the rounds on this forum for aftermarket installs if anyone wants a look-see.

iceman21_23 04-07-2009 10:47 PM

so anyone got any ideas on where to meet?

epod86 04-07-2009 11:33 PM

Is that why we're all silent? No places anyone can think of? Hahaha...

But seriously, last person you want to ask is me. I got nothing.

iceman21_23 04-07-2009 11:53 PM

i dont know that area lol so i dont even know of any resturants or thigns over there?

theDreamer 04-08-2009 07:46 AM

Well, what area do you want? I-10/Beltway, Galleria, other?

wstar 04-08-2009 09:16 AM

I don't really care where in town. The further it is the more I get to drive :driving:

This is close-ish to me, if you don't like it suggest something else :)

epod86 04-08-2009 11:37 AM

Works for me. I got Comcox coming out between 8-11 on Saturday to attempt to fix a weird problem. Noon or later work?

Yeah it would have to be afternoon (or later) for me too. I'm supposed to call a dyno place around 11am and see if they're free and try to squeeze myself in there, so my timing around then is kinda up in the air, I might not be outta there till early afternoon.

iceman21_23 04-08-2009 04:43 PM

well i dont get off work till 630 and its supposed to rain this weekend so we may want to postpone it for a week or 2

iceman21_23 04-08-2009 05:18 PM

lol i daily drive mine so i dont care

AbZolute 04-09-2009 02:50 AM

I bought an S2000 CR back in Nov. Tracked it at TWS twice so far and it works very well, but I got bit by the Z bug back with my S30...might have to look into a 370-hearing good things. Anyone heard if Nissan will be adding oil coolers soon?

epod86 04-09-2009 11:37 AM

If there new vert is any indication, I don't think there will be one until aftermarket makes one, as this certainly wasn't mentioned as a new feature. But based on the volume of bally-hoo-ing about it, should be pretty soon if the parts guys know whats good for 'em. The fact is that road driving doesn't reach problem temperatures, so there isn't really a drive/need for the cooler. Hence why the aftermarket guys should be jumping on this soon, because it seems to be a necessary mod for track days.

Back to topic: Looks like a nasty weather system for this weekend (poor egg hunting kids) and its not much fun to look at cars in the rain, unless you like traction protraction ;) Think we're moving this back a week?

Yeah, in all honesty, most drivers on the street probably aren't going to have oil cooling issues with the new Z. Houston in particular is hard on car temps though, what with our summer heat and oppressive humidity. I'm still considering adding an aftermarket kit on mine, just because I'm in Houston, I tend to drive considerably harder than average, and I might do a few track events down the road. Same basic reasons I'm also planning to upgrade my brake lines and fluid, which is again not really necessary in most cases.

Yeah sounds like it. Maybe next weekend.

$1500 under INVOICE? That's incredible. Which dealer?

epod86 04-14-2009 06:43 PM

So how are peoples' weekends looking? Shall we try this again?

theDreamer 04-14-2009 07:09 PM

I will be in Galveston this weekend, plus I do not have my car yet. Would one evening during the week be better for people or is the weekend the best time?

wstar 04-14-2009 07:28 PM

I'm actually pretty flexible most of the time. I work from home and I'm single, so other than the occasional family holiday/birthday type of event, scheduling is pretty easy for me. Wednesday (tomorrow) is out for me, but the rest of the week/weekend looks ok. You guys sort out whatever and I'll show up.

epod86 04-14-2009 07:35 PM

I'm particularly free for the next week or so except for Thurs, when I have a bunch of stuff scheduled.

gpa7pk 04-21-2009 07:46 PM

Just got back from the Nissan dealership I ordered my 370Z from, Douglass Nissan in College Station, and their sales manager said he would sell an ordered or on the lot Z for invoice. He has two, a red and a brilliant silver, both touring and 6m sport and no nav. Contact Dane Goddard at 979.764.7726 or DG1781@yahoo.com. They are good to business with.

He and I had a conversation about my order after he told me this.....

Welcome! What color? I'm trying to keep track of the colors in case I run into any of you on the street :)

I've only seen two others in Houston with my own eyes so far: A silver one that had out of state plates (I think it was Washington State?), and a Blue one I spotted in the parking lot of a motorcycle shop, but it had dealer-logo plates (not even numbered like a newly bought car), so I figure it was someone at the dealership driving an unsold one.

theDreamer 04-27-2009 01:10 PM

Welcome, hope to see you around town soon. :D

Ditto dude... i saw that thread about iceman trying to get something together, defintely need to hit that up. :tiphat:

wstar 04-27-2009 01:15 PM

Another random thing popped into my mind to post, thinking about seeing other Z's in the wild: watch out for the jealous 350 owners in Houston. The little ricer guys have pretty much left me alone on the street (actually, they tend to kinda slink away like they're afraid), but 350 owners have tried to get me into street and highway races several times now :)
