Default camaro at work

well someone bought a camaro "RS" at work and i wasnt sure whos it was. Then i heard one of my buddies (he drives a camry) talking in the copy room and i heard my name so i went in there and my buddy was like hey murph i bet you his camaro will smoke your z all day long. I didnt want to be mean so i was just like eh we will have to see some time as i laughed very hard inside. But anyways i was talking to the owner of the camaro and he said that i guess it was the sales man that you can buy a chip for the v6 that will bump the hp up to near SS hp. Anyone hear of anything like this?

i believe rs is a package that adds high intensity headlights and larger wheels/tires.
it's an option for all the camaros, so even the v8 2SS can have a RS logo on it.

All the RS packaged SS models seem to have the SS badging in either white or red.

If he admits its a V6 then yeah, theres not a chance it will hang with the Z. There isn't a chip that will make it anywhere near as fast as the SS. I haven't seen anything on the camaro5 board about it and haven't noticed anything else on dragtimes.com (or whatever its called).

yeah like you stated, all the SS w/RS still have SS badge on them that ive seen but anyways he stated it is a v6. but yeah when he said that the guy at the dealership told him about the chip i was like huh? 2 grand tops for a chip and you get supercharged numbers no way.

Yeah, if they had detuned V6's like that they wouldn't be having many sales problems with their other cars. Slap a V6 with SS power into a Cobalt and have a nice day.

I think the "chip" thing is the latest in salesman lingo. It's b.s. to say the least. I've had salesman tell me that I can really up the hp on my Z with a chip. I just look at them and walk away.
