370z THAT much better than a 350z??
Hey,
New to the forum and just recently visited a Nissan Dealer to test drive a new 370z (40th Anniv to be exact) and here are my thoughts. The interior is VASTLY improved over my 2008 350z that I own. I like the clicker on the exterior door handles and other touches like auto locks, push button start, synchrorev match, etc...that my car doesn't have. It does not appear to have the heads up display like digital speedo which was a disappointment. However, having said all this I don't buy a Sports Car for gadgets, I buy it for the visceral feeling I get after I start it up and shoot down the road. Here is where I was disappointed. The torque felt about the same as my 350z, granted the dealer with me was constantly warning me not to speed so I really didn't have a chance to open her up like I wanted to. However, I really didn't come away anymore excited than when I drive my current Z and also noticed that the exhaust note seems more muted during brisk acceleration?!?! Am I missing something here? I am curious to hear feedback from people who owned 350zs and upgraded to a 370z or who own 370zs with feedback as to how it feels when driven daily. Thanks |

The 350 was a starting point and the 370 was the improvement. If I owned a 350 there wouldn't been enough to motivate a purchase of a 370z. But I would say for the brief time I 2009 when bough cars were on the lot at the same time. I would have bought the 370 even over a disconted 350.

I've only driven in a 350z of my friends a few times. But to compare the suspension. 370z seems more nimble and quicker to accelerate to me. But maybe because i own it.
Maybe wait for a 2013 Z base which might be the same as a 2010 Nismo. You know how these car engineers are.

Don't trump up the Nismo as a performance upgrade..... Suspension and Exhaust for "mods". Body and Wheels for looks.
However, by 2013 the Z may see direct injection or who knows what other changes, if that's your projected purchase window. I've talked to some Z33 owners and taken what I know from my Z34... - Interior is MUCH better - Better overall motor (VHR) - SRM is the sex - Sport Brakes are close to the Brembos, for less (Base + Sport Package) - HID is a standard - The VHR is a nice bump from the HR, but I would stray far far away from purchasing a DE motor this late in the game, unless you get an INSANE deal and plan on doing a lot of internal work to make it fast. (If you don't plan to make it fast, the HR/VHR is worth the price difference easily.) That's all I got right now. Jack & Sprite is making me wanna crash out lol

IMHO, I liked driving the 350 more than the 370...It just feels more---precise (I don't know if that's the word to describe it)...I feel like I have more control in the 350....I got rid of my 350 back in 2007 (owned it for 1 yr and 8 mos) and got a G35c (2.5 years), and I got my 370 in August of 2009...the 370 has somewhat of a lackluster feel to it...at first, I thought it was maybe because I had a G35c between my 350 and 370 that caused me to feel like that...
However, I work at a dealership and I started driving 350s that customer trade in and one after another, they proved my point---- sorry, I'm getting too sleep right now, I'll try to finish this another time...but bottomline is, I still feel like the 350 had more of a fun factor than the 370...I felt more in control with the 350...goodnite...finish another time!!!
