He's a lead tech, just got his master ASE/Lexus cert. Only been there a few years. I guess our family is blessed with mechanically inclined people I'm not sure what, if anything, he'd be able to do as he's not a Service Writer, he just gets his hours, and a lot of them.

I can and will always stand behind his competence though, so if you ever have issues I would see him. You won't be leaving dissatisfied, his cars don't come back again for the same issue.

A lot of people there only know how to work on Lexus/Toyota/Fuel Injected cars, it's unfortunately the way things are moving. He's had his hands on almost everything including GoPeds/MoPeds/RC/Dirt Bikes/Motorcycles/Jet Skis as well as cars from the 50's and up. I've got a lot of faith in my (slightly) younger brother, he's my backup plan when I have issues, lol.

I recorded my deal too. I bought it from Smithtown Nissan - 2nd best in USA - yet having a class action law suit against them for pulling yo-yo's on consumers. See my post:

Anyway, the bottom line is, you need to be informed and smart and learn about all the scams they try on you before buying.

I bought my used '97 240SX from Bankston Lewisville back in '01. I was young and dumb and didn't get a great deal, but I never felt taken advantage of.

purdy much ALL dealerships are shady...however i kinda enjoy grinding out deals with the multiple "managers" that come out..hahah

I got my Max at Bankston Dallas, Z Bankston Lewisville. Have had 1 issue with them through out the years in service at Lewisville years ago. JJ my service advisor now works as a head mechanic, he knows and takes care of my cars well.

I also met Paul Francis when I bought my Z at Bankston Nissan of Lewisville. Can't say about their service department because I haven't take my car for service yet. Although they own me the first free oil change, and when I called their service dept asking about Nissan Ester Oil and they seem to not understand what i'm talking about, saying they will use Valvoline oil either 10W30 or 5W30 on the Z...?

You got scrxwed by Universal Nissan, I am getting scrxwed by Glendale Nissan, which is owned by the same scums. I bought a red 09' Nismo through internet sales. The negotiation and the sales process was very good. I know I could've worked them down $500 more on the price. But it wasn't worth my time. So I finally got it for $250 below invoice. The problem started the next day. I found the usual paint cracks near panel lines which is common on Nismos. The driver side floor panel cover was loose. And worst of all, the are really bad swirl marks all over the car. The dealership used a rotary buffer and f'd up my paint. So I went back right away and complained. They fixed the floor panel. I had to wait 3 weeks touch up paint for the paint chips to arrive. So finally they fixed the paint chips. They wanted to remove the swirl marks by polishing it again. I was like "not no, but hell no". So they approved for me to use my own detail person and reimburst me for the paint removal if I get an written estimate. I got an estimate different detail shops, and the cost was about $400. In the mist of complaining about the swirls (over a month), I found out they'd left the spring spacers from my front suspension. They should have been removed during sales. I was basically driving car for 500 miles without any front spring compression. So I wrote a complaint email with all the troubles I've had and forwarded it to the sales guy and asked him to forward it to the management. 2 weeks later, still no body contacted me. So I went into the dealership and complained again. The sales guy told me to write a letter and mail it to the General Manager. I wrote it. 2 weeks later, still no one contacted me. So I went in again and the sales guy told me to write to another general manager. So I told him no, and that he should get the manger to call me. I threatened to contact Nissan motors, and the better business bureau. Still took a week later before the executive assistant contacted me and offered me $100 and said no one charges $400 to remove swirls. So I threatened to tell the story to the whole entertainment industry which I belong to. Then she said she would get back to me. Now the service manager wants to look at my car next week. I know he is going to offer to take my car to their own body shop to fix the problem. The funny thing is that I've had a G35 coupe that this body shop repainted the bumper on. It looked like someone painted it in the garage. And they claim that's as good as factory paint.

I basically had the same annoying negotiations, which promptly ended when I printed out a list for invoice pricing of all the options and the car itself and told him "how about we start negotiating from here". His reaction was priceless too. He looked at it, looked at me and said "Where did you get this?"

BUT, they did try and eff me pretty bad to the point where it almost caused me to walk out on the hours I just spent getting the car a couple hundred below invoice. He told me his financing team can get me a great deal on a loan, "we have several banks we work with to get you the best rate!" Well, how convenient, huh? Now, I don't have a very extensive credit history, as I am under 25, and this was the first new car I have ever purchased, BUT I do have very good credit. So, he comes back to me and gives me a quote of something around 7.9% and said "this is a GREAT rate. You won't get much better than that on the market." Now, again, I'm no 60 year old veteran of purchasing cars, but a 7.9% APR isn't great. So, I told him I would consider it and be back to finalize the paperwork. So, I called him back and asked once more, 7.9% is the best you can do? Seems a little high. He assures me, its a great deal and they simply cannot find a lower rate after searching around. After telling him I would call him back, I walked right into my bank (Chase) and talk to a rep for a solid 20min. He gives me a quote of 4.1%. Now, I don't know what "banks" they are checking with, but you would think Chase would be one of them. And if not, you would think one of their numerous loan sources would be somewhere near what I got in a matter of 20min. So, I called Nissan again after I talked to the Chase manager. Once again he assures me, 7.9% is really good in "today's market". Right there I told him I just got 4.1% from Chase. He quickly says, "Oh, I didn't check with them! Let me see what I can do." Calls me back a half hour later and says, "Great news! I found a bank willing to give you a loan for 3.99%!" I actually laughed on the phone. This means to me that he either A.) did not talk to anyone and went with whatever bank he called first, B) purposely tried to eff me over with a bad rate. I told him I'd think about it. I honestly sat there and contemplated walking away on principal alone. But, I decided to stick with that dealership because I honestly did not want to go through negotiations with another dealership and I actually did get a decent price from them on the Z.

get a pre approved loan from your bank and go in and say I have a preapproved loan for the price you showed him on the pape and say make it happen. Tell em dont worry about financing just get me this price or I walk.

I did something very similar. I got my credit score online. I looked at my bank's BEST interest rate available. That became my target. Just below invoice was my starting price for the car. I knew the term of loan I wanted. I had it all figured out. When it came time to deal, I laid it right down on the phone with my salesman, Jay. I said, "Hit these numbers, throw in a car cover and wheel locks, and I'll be down to buy it today." I had done months of research, test drove everything I wanted to try... I gave several dealers the chance to meet or better my price. I waited to the end of the month to buy, so they'd be ready to deal. I didn't play anyone's games and walked away several times. Jay was one of the few salesmen who was straight with me. The dealer even beat my interest rate by .25%.

So yeah, have your numbers ready. Or have a great loan in hand. Of course, cash is always best, but...

Well, I had every intention of going to my bank to see what they would offer me. Figured I might as well of had him check. Guess I did it backwards, haha. Oh well, live and you learn.

I love how they do that. I was actualy thinking about trading my Z in for a SRT10 Ram (needed a truck more then a car but wanted power) They only wanted to give me $32K for the Z and the truck was $29K. I asked if they could either give me $35k for the car or drop the truck to $25K...they said no, i left...week later they called back and said we have a deal. I said "no thanks"

Or gotta love how they use the "well theres another person that is waiting for this car, if you dont buy right now it will be gone" Another dealership tried that on me and i said "ok well let the other guy have it" 3 months later the truck is sitting there.

You and your wife made the right decision.
