If you talked to them like your talking here and cursing at them no wonder they didn't want to help you. It sounds like they appologized at first and offered a solution they aren't gonna lose 2gs like that. If it were me in that situation and a mistake was made and you starte cursing at me I wouldn't want to help you either in fact Ive asked people to leave because of it. I haven't heard the recording or anything so I could be wrong but that's what I can gather by what you just wrote and all the sensored words.

I'd like to listen to the recording just to see what happend. I can see why you would be upset but again this stuff happens.. Sometimes it's an honest mistake sometimes it's not. I appologize beforehand if my analysis of your story was incorrect.
I think dealerships know when they are talking about a white car and can see blue in the paperwork. Im sure mistakes can be made but I think they were getting him all excited about a new car and had him do all the work hoping he would go with the new plan so as not to waste all that time. Just the fact that no paperwork was done when he went there during lunchwhen a deal was already made seems kinda wierd. Thats what the visit was for was to do paperwork but the stonewalled him and made him wait to see how bad he wanted a new car. They were playing him to get him into more money.

I'd simply call it a bait and switch. When I am buying a car, I have no problem with a dealership trying to charge me anything they want - that is if all charges are laid out in plain sight so I can see them. When they try to sneak things into the contract without saying a word...that's what pisses me off...and if I say no to something...it means no. It does not mean let's do some more negotiating.

I usually can avoid these things by simply stating when I go to a dealership that I will shop around at several dealerships and I want all your junk charges and any other crap laid out before I leave. I basically say give me the absolute bottom line before I leave here and if you are so sure it is the best deal I will get you should have no problem with me comparison shopping and I should be back to accept your deal then.

Just to play devil's advocate, you should have been more worried about matching the VIN up, not the color.

My Solid Red Nismo was in my Nissan's system as being Monterey Blue (There are no monterey blue nismos). I made them change the paperwork just so there weren't any issues later on. A few days later, I noticed they had a Black Nismo on the lot, and the system online said it was Blue as well. So I'm sure mistakes like this do happen.

Here's a good article. I don't want you to get in any trouble.

Quote:
At first, the question of whether or not to tape record a phone call seems like a matter of personal preference. Some journalists see taping as an indispensable tool, while others don’t like the formality it may impose during an interview. Some would not consider taping a call without the subject’s consent, others do it routinely.

However, there are important questions of law that must be addressed first. Both federal and state statutes govern the use of electronic recording equipment. The unlawful use of such equipment can give rise not only to a civil suit by the “injured” party, but also criminal prosecution.

Accordingly, it is critical that journalists know the statutes that apply and what their rights and responsibilities are when recording and disclosing communications.

Although most of these statutes address wiretapping and eavesdropping — listening in on conversations of others without their knowledge — they usually apply to electronic recording of any conversations, including phone calls and in-person interviews.

Federal law allows recording of phone calls and other electronic communications with the consent of at least one party to the call. A majority of the states and territories have adopted wiretapping statutes based on the federal law, although most also have extended the law to cover in-person conversations. Thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia permit individuals to record conversations to which they are a party without informing the other parties that they are doing so. These laws are referred to as “one-party consent” statutes, and as long as you are a party to the conversation, it is legal for you to record it. (Nevada also has a one-party consent statute, but the state Supreme Court has interpreted it as an all-party rule.)

Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation. Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington. Be aware that you will sometimes hear these referred to inaccurately as “two-party consent” laws. If there are more than two people involved in the conversation, all must consent to the taping.

Regardless of the state, it is almost always illegal to record a conversation to which you are not a party, do not have consent to tape, and could not naturally overhear.

Federal law and most state laws also make it illegal to disclose the contents of an illegally intercepted call or communication.

At least 24 states have laws outlawing certain uses of hidden cameras in private places, although many of the laws are specifically limited to attempts to record nudity. Also, many of the statutes concern unattended hidden cameras, not cameras hidden on a person engaged in a conversation. Journalists should be aware, however, that the audio portion of a videotape will be treated under the regular wiretapping laws in any state. And regardless of whether a state has a criminal law regarding cameras, undercover recording in a private place can prompt civil lawsuits for invasion of privacy.

This guide provides a quick reference to the specific provisions of each jurisdiction’s wiretap law. It outlines whether one-party or all-party consent is required to permit recording of a conversation, and provides the legal citations for wiretap statutes. Some references to case law have been provided in instances where courts have provided further guidance on the law. Penalties for violations of the law are described, including criminal penalties (jail and fines) and civil damages (money that a court may order the violator to pay to the subject of the taping). Instances where the law specifically includes cellular calls and the wireless portion of cordless phone calls also are noted, but many laws are purposely broad enough to encompass such calls without specifically mentioning them.

Sidebar articles throughout the guide address specific issues related to taping. Note that these are general discussions, and you will have to consult the state entries to see how these issues apply in particular states.

I had a verbal deal with Marazzi Nissan in Naples Fl. and then they added a 600$ dealer fee. I backed out

Went to Nissan of Brandon and spoke with General sales director directly and got my price with extras. (tint and lighted kicks)

I am never using a salesman again to buy a car. Get the GM's name, bypass a salesman and save the $

Good luck getting your car.

ps. I heard the GM I dealt with is gone, I hope it wasn't my fault..lol
I got mine at John Marazzi. What I did was wait till the end of the month, when they had to close the books. I got mine with 21 miles on it (PW 6MT Sport - no nav) for 32k. Not a bad deal because they were trying to sell it for 36k. They had all the Sport+Navs at 40k lol.

Assuming thats a non-touring Sport you got...I dont mean to bring you down, but that wasnt that great of a deal . Invoice was closer to 30K on it.

Unless you meant 32k out the DOOR - THEN we're talkin'

In Texas, you can record a 2-party conversation without the other person being aware. A verbal agreement can also be binding. Good state to do business in heh.

When I was still shopping around for my Z back in June or July trying to pick a color and trim and test drive one I stopped by this dealership. I was already preapproved for a loan and we pulled up in my GF's G35 Coupe. When we get there I saw probably 5 barely 20y/o salesman standing outside smoking and talking. This was the warning that I didn't head unfortunately. One of the salesmen starts talking to me and I asked to go look at a Z and told him I want to sit in one at least. He shows us the row of about 5 Zs on the side of the building and then after I remind him, he goes in and gets the keys to one for me to sit in. I ask about a test drive and I am then told "We don't do test drives unless you're pretty much ready to buy." WTF is this crap?! Stupid I say eff it and ask to talk numbers so I can figure out some pricing and financing options in regard to what my monthly will be. Well this kid ends up not knowing ANYTHING about the car or financing and goes and gets his Manager. This guy comes in and just reminds me of Bernie Mac... Loud, pushy, better and smarter than me in his eyes, etc. I ask about leasing options and he says that I can lease the "Top-of-the-line model, you know, the 29k one" for about 600$/mo or something. I ask him to work up some financing numbers based off of down payment and 60mo/70mo so I know what I'm going to be looking at. He flat out REFUSES to try on that too. Just like the kid told me, he says that he doesn't want to mess with even rough financing numbers until I'm ready to buy. Also, as soon as the salesman sets me up with the manager, he takes off to start helping someone else. When the manager left, we were alone in an office for about 30 mins.

Basically these guys just came across as though they thought I owed it to them to buy the car. They did as little work as possible, lied to me about test drives and financing estimates, and just inconvenienced me and my GF for a couple hours.

Afterwards I went to Grubbs Nissan in Bedford and the guy I was dealing with set me up in a PW T/S/N 6MT for a test drive (decided on white once I finally saw this car) and got his financing guy to put together some estimates on financing based off of a couple different APRs and down payments. I later found out that they stayed an hour late helping me too.

I wanted to buy my car from Grubbs, but they couldn't find the Nismo for me so I went with another dealer that I was very happy with.

And did you go back to the first one and flaunt the car they didnt sell? Im kinda sh!tty like that, they piss me off, I come back and flaunt. They way I look at it, no matter what happens later you can never and I mean Never make up a lost sell, even if you sell the next for 2X as much. I think vendors and companies dont understand this. I kinda do theJulia Roberts prostitute movie and go back to the store that treated you like crap and show them what they could have had.

Damn, i wish we didn't have to purchase cars through dealerships. I had an issue where i purchased the Z and they PROMISED me 5 free oil changes. I got my first one, and that went well. 4k miles later, i go back for my next one, and they want to charge me a whooping 160 bucks for non-synthetic and 250 for Nissan ester oil.. I asked them about my other 4 free oil changes, and they asked for any written contract that states what they promised me. I had none.. which is my own fault. Even so, what the ****? I was pissed. I left immediately, with no thought of ever going back there for any type of service. Bought myself some Redline Ester Oil and a K&N Filter, diy 90 bucks.

This was at Alhambra Nissan.

did you get your salesman to talk to them on the second one? I guess you know now always get it in writing. But 250 is like double the price it should be for ester.

That dealership would have “lost me” at 102 miles on the OD……With all the sh*t that happened to you and your wife…..it really could have been an honest mistake! No dealership is going to sell a car at a loss…..they have to feed their family and survive like everyone else! I have experienced some of the biggest d*uchebags in the car business and I can usually weed them out…… but I believe the majority of them are good people just trying to make a living.

Nissan dealerships almost turned me off from the Z completely. I went through every Z dealership in the Portland area before finally finding one that wasn't either A) sleazy or B) lazy. Half of them seemed to care less if I wanted to buy something or not, none of them wanted to work with me via email/phone, and others were just full of jackasses, idiots or both.

I did finally find a decent dealership where they were fairly friendly and had what I wanted and dealt with me over the phone.

It was a completely different experience from when we bought my wife's Honda. We could browse the lot at our leisure and they did all the paperwork in advance so we didn't have to spend hours sitting in some dank finance office.

I don't need to be treated like royalty. Just treat me like a fellow human being.

Nothing better than making a scene and WALKING-OUT. When dealers are playing games I can walk out. NEVER have I been so hard-up for a car that I NEEDED to buy from a certain dealer.

When shopping for my last 2 vehicles, (Jeep and the Z) there was only 1 left within a couple hundred miles. Jeep was end of model yr and I walked out on that dealer 3x's until they called me back and stopped playing games. I was prepared to wait it out.

With the Z, there was ONE in the configuration I wanted. I called them up, drove down and was prepared to walk. The dealer was respectable, straight shooting and my negotiation was 5mins so I didn't have to walk If there was any game playing, I would have walked and waited until I found another dealer with the car I wanted.

When I was a kid (19), I was looking to lease an eclipse. I had a good job that paid well. Salesman and Mgr gave me a LEASE price of $800 with 3k down. I LOUDLY laughed and said $800??? I could BUY 2 of these POS cars for $800/mo. They quickly tried to hush me up as the other shoppers began to take notice. The Mgr. said, "Oh we have to throw that out there every time". I said Oh you HAVE to throw that out there to see if I'm a F-ing idiot? As I walked out the mgr had a few choice words and even jabbed me with the "you prob can't afford the car anyway" line... Real scum man. I'll never buy a mitsubishi and I've talked people out of ever going to that dealership. God I love negotiating!!!
