my dealership uses the same computer system, and I constantly have to double check my vins when i sell a car

so OP, i doubt they were trying to screw you, knowing that you would (obviously) notice it was the wrong color when you took delivery. Surveys are too important for something that obvious

If they didn't try to screw him, they didn't do a good job of trying to salvage the situation either. This is not the first time I've seen a dealership "make a mistake" then do a poor attempt to cover it up.

I know people are out to make money but you don't have to blatantly screw customers with bait and switch tactics, useless or high priced addons that "come with every car" or just straight bad customer service.

Best thing you can do as a customer is to be informed and do research. The most trouble I've had is usually with the finance departments. If you don't come in with your own loan or paying cash, prepare to be bent over...

ok, every_______single_______corporate________dealersh ip______has_________adds,
and they usually pull their pants down when it comes to discounting them, so get over it it will not go away, it will not stop, it will never change. there is no longer any reason to complain about adds.

as far as them trying to fix it, the OP told them to ****( off, so why would they bother risking a bad survey to appease him at that point. in todays car sales world, surveys are more important than individual sales

lol I know you're a sales guy so you're going to try to sell me on why I shouldn't complain about ađding useless options I don't want and have me pay for it at a "discount" price.

Not every dealership has adds, the dealership I bought my Z didn't have any on the car nor did they try to sell me any. The only thing they tried to do was push extended warranties through the finance department and I expect that. I don't mind if they try to sell me something but if I refuse, they need to accept that.

What does piss me off is the fact that some dealerships don't even give you a choice and expect you to pay at least a portion of this stuff that you don't want. Regular folks that don't know better get ripped off for stuff they don't even need and don't even add value to the car.

It's one thing if it's from the manufacturer, but if you're going to slap on some tints I don't want or some "paint protection" that costs $500, that's just a rip.

You're still defending the dealership in the OP? seriously? first of all, he said he listened to their side of the story and told them to **ck off when they wanted him to pay when they're the ones that made the mistake on the price. I would have reacted the same way.

Bottom line is, there are good and bad dealerships and everyone on this forum should be informed and know what to look out for. The fact that these dealerships will never change, doesn't mean we should all just accept it.

Just read this story but not the whole thread. Wow that is such a shame!

I had an amazingly comfortable experience at Don Davis Nissan in Arlington. Of course they had stuff on the car I didn't care for such as lit door sills and mud guards but I didn't end up having to pay for them. The salesman actually knew details about the Z which I thought was amazing.

I tried Bankston and Courtesy first and they definitely played all the normal shady dealership games. Felt like I was a piece of meet among hyenas. Courtesy even tried to convince me that there wasn't a Black 6MT Sport Package within 300 miles so I should just pony up the $$ for the Black AUTO Touring they had. It was about $9k more than the car I ended up finding the next day 30 miles away (black sport 6mt).

because the pricing they did was on the wrong one...it doesn't matter that they gave him a price before, since it was on the wrong car. so of course they had to ask for more money.

if car A costs $35, and car B costs $40, it doesn't matter if I accidentally tell you car B cost $35, because I cant afford to sell it for that price. Every car has a stock # (Nissan of Grapevine uses the last eight characters of the VIN. They based the numbers on that stock number, and every bit of the paperwork reflected on that VIN. So even though they thought they were talking about car A, the numbers they gave were written as being for car B. When you're trying to put a car deal together, there's so much going on that it's easy for a less experienced salesman to mess something up.

wow thanks for the explanation. I didn't really know what was going on until you broke it down into car A and car B. So you can't afford to lose $5 on car B? are times really that tough?

/sarcasm off

No use arguing with you since you're on the dealership side regardless. Either way Nissan of Grapevine is a bad dealership and the OP isn't the only person with issues (check out BBB site, has a C rating for this dealership).

I would hope you actually treat your customers with more courtesy and respect. I can't say the same for the rest of your dealership.

I had very similar experiences at Grapevine nissan when I was shopping for a z. At the time I was trying to get a used 350z, they fed me all kind of b.s. They said it had the dual intakes and was faster than the new 370z, said they couldn't go lower than their price of 29k for a used 07 nismo. It's all exclusive yada yada yada. Needless to say, I took my money and got a brand new base 370z at the time for not much more than the price of their nismo. Afterwards, they kept calling me for months on end.

I would never ever go to grapevine nissan again after all the b.s. tactics they tried on me.

First off, 350z does have dual intake, just like the 370.
Second, nismo zs do hold their value extremely well.

Actually the 07 and 08 z I do believe the he motors were duel intake because motordyne tales the he manifold and modifies for the 370.

Early models were single throttle body intake(VQ35DE). It wasn't until 07's VQ35HR that it got the dual throttle bodies/intake.

Oops just noticed this was already answered.
