Done plenty of searching, and debating where to get my NISMO 370Z tuned. Car was FI Catback, FI test pipes, Z1 intakes. Wanting to use ECUTek. Debating between AWD Tuning,

Default DFW Area tuners

Done plenty of searching, and debating where to get my NISMO 370Z tuned. Car was FI Catback, FI test pipes, Z1 intakes. Wanting to use ECUTek. Debating between AWD Tuning, PRT, JoTech or other? I’m in Keller. TIA.

I'm curious to hear what people's experiences are as well as where they would suggest for taking the Z for tuning since I'm in the DFW area.

Can't recommend AWD Tuning enough. Keith is as solid as they come; but ALWAYS discuss thoroughly and get things in writing before handing over car and money - no matter which shop is doing the work.

I've also dealt with Texas Track Works in S. Fort Worth for camber arms, alignment, and minor things and would also highly recommend them. They do builds as well; but you may have to wait a while because they get very busy, particularly this time of the year when track events are getting heavily booked. Trent & Frank are awesome.

I recommend remote tuning with Seb at Specialty Z. He is the best out there. Takes a little more effort on your end but it's well worth it knowing that you're getting the best tune for your needs

Yeah, TTW is great. They’re the only place you can go that has the older style Hunter alignment machine to get lowered cars onto. The new Hunter’s are too high and every place I’ve called says “heck no”. AWD Tuning it is. Thanks!

Yeah. I’ve heard that, but I have 0 interest in doing 2nd/3rd/4th gear rips on public roads to be honest. Thanks though.

What is the general steps to do remote tuning - assuming if there are questions or issues - Seb is easy to reach out to and ask questions - in particular if there is user error (which knowing my luck - I would have questions haha)

@All,
Has anyone gone to Jotech recently and if so - how was the experience? I have heard they are a little pricier than some but if the customer service and knowledge is solid - than I feel the price can/is justified. Also - any of the shops listed - have they done any type of turbo kits such as the Boosted Performance or the SOHO single?

TTW is great but I don’t think tuning is their bread and butter though.

I would hands down go with remote tuning with Seb, NA or FI, as none of the local choices specialize in the 370z platform.

I personally wouldn’t go to Joetech....Perhaps if it’s a GTR build...but for a Z, why pay top dollar to tune at a shop that isn’t remotely active in our platform?

Amount Seb forgets about VHR is probably more than most will learn about it in their life time.

I'm not judging. But I'm honestly curious, why are you bothering to tune? I mean the throttle response improvement is nice, so I'm all for that

Texas is huge. Plenty of empty roads out there. Remote tuning does not require full WOT pulls in 4th gear. If I need, I can do redline 3rd gear pulls on 130 which hit up to about 90 mph and put me at 5 mph over the speed limit. Not really needed though. Most street tunes don't need redline pulls.

Unless you want numbers, in which case you should be on a dyno anyway.

Check out Seb's website. Most of the remote tuning questions are answered in the FAQ there. He can answer any other questions you might have. Best customer service in the biz

Check out Seb's website. Most of the remote tuning questions are answered in the FAQ there. He can answer any other questions you might have. Best customer service in the biz
I've heard nothing but positive reviews from Seb. I'm mainly tuning to optimize the mods I have on the Z like anyone else. I don't really care about dyno numbers honestly. Dyno numbers are bragging rights if you're into that sort of tom foolery. Plus, you can breast enhance the peaks by going SAE to STD, or use smoothing. It's all crap to me honestly. Just optimize my AFR's and lemme road race this beast. I'll think again about Seb... but I have to do my logs on a mac cuz I don't have a PC/Windows OS........

I'm in OKC, and there aint no Nissan tuners here.

Cant say enough good things about Seb. He is a real stand up guy.

Pleased with all the remote tunes he has done for me. Excellent experience.

I am planning to get my Z uprev tuned at Jotech later this year. I always heard good things about them and they are like 10 minutes away from my house. Seems that the gripe is with the price... what is an average cost of tuning? My mods are resonated tp,catback, and soon to be installed CAI.

I did remote tuning with Eugene Turkov (ByThaBay on the forum, or by his name on Facebook) on both of my supercharged Z's, and they drove like a stock car, obviously with much more power haha. He will take the time to explain things to you and get your car dialed in exactly how you want it. My first Z went through 34 revisions, most of them minor tweaks, but he would have me call him while driving around for some to get real-time impressions of how I liked the driving experience. Additionally, I daily drove both of my Z's, so reliability was at the top of my list. Eugene kept the stock knock values and knows how to work with all the failsafes to keep your car going for the long haul.

Your price will depend largely on your mods, but also on buying the tuning license initially. My first NA tune on Uprev, similar to what you are looking for, cost me around $500 back in 2016ish, dyno tuned at Z1 Motorsports, but they look to charge $750 now for the initial tune. If you look at the retune price though, it is $500 less, likely due to not having to pay for a license.

My boosted remote tunes have cost $1200 and $900, respectively.

FWIW, I made the trip down to Houston to get a dyno tune from Moncef @ AdminTuning. I think it cost $850. Very happy with the results and haven't had any issues 1 year and 10k miles later.

He was actually in Dallas doing group tunes a few months ago, and also offers remote tuning as well. If anything, you can rent dyno time and coordinate with your tuner to have a remote tune done. I'd recommend a shop that specializes in our platform, otherwise you're just going to get a "copy and paste" tune.
