Dealer installed my Stillen CBE last month with no fitment issues. The technician that performed the work did say it took a little extra effort to make sure the exhaust tips were perfectly centered. That's probably due to me telling him prior to the install that there were no other options! Looks great and sounds great.

Anyone from Stillen still here? is it possible to mount it upside down?

What have other people done to solve this issue?
Don't they have a presence in New Zealand?

I dont have a fitment issue, everything bolted into place, however, the muffler section doesnt look right, the right muffler tip is off centered, didnt notice it until yesterday, now its bothering the hell outta me.

I beg to ask the very pragmatic question........why was that a mistake? Called Stillen for assistance and they were absolutely worthless in support. Very glad to hear that some people have no issues. However, those who never have had issues need to recognize that they can and do exist.

Relatively handy doing my own engine building, head/intake porting and paint/body work. All the mods to my Z were done by my me including dyno tuning where I rented dyno time to do so. Have zero need to buy "canned tunes."

My Corvette won "best in class" at the 2007 Dallas Autorama with me painting the car doing all the restoration down to replacing the carpet and engine detailing. Currently in the mid-winter process of restoring a 1964 Chevy Impala SS cutting out the floorboards and welding new ones back in myself. After that, I'll finish out the interior and them repaint the car in the spring. It should look like new and I plan on doing some local shows. Oh yes, I'm replacing the rusted exhaust system with a new one.

The Stillen exhaust was not properly manufactured, needed to be fixed, have the experience to realize when something needs to be done and I fixed it. End of story.

So.......tell me how that was a mistake. What should I have done?........let it hit the cross member and put my head in the sand? Deny there wasn't an issue?

Curious minds want to know.

For years and years, been a fan of the Millen's cheering them on in their racing efforts. Stillen in my opinion represented a tradition of winning performance. However, up to owning the 370; had never purchased anything from the company.

It was with zero hesitation and grateful anticipation that I placed my first order with them. As a result of mediocre product quality, repeated problems and very poor customer support, I've washed my hands from every doing business with them.

Busted my bubble as I truly expected better.

4 thick washers between the crossmember and pipe is all it takes to fix it cheap and easy.

If you haven't received the headers, I wouldn't do Stillen headers for sure. They also do not fit properly, are an absolutely bear to install, the 02's are very difficult to remove w/o killing the threads and the headers only produce 2-3 additional hp.

Let's put it this way....... If I knew then what I know now, I'd personally not do it again. The additional $800.00 for new 02's didn't help the cause.

Dan at Out Performance Shop ( Out-Perform with OUTPERFORMANCE SHOP - Your one stop auto shop for performance parts, accessories, installations, and more ) is working on some true long tube headers for the 370. He has my stock manifolds and I've seen pictures of his prototype. Give him a buzz if you haven't purchased yet as these may actually produce real gains.

If you absolutely must have the Stillens.....mine will be for sale shortly at probably a substantial discount.

Mine went on last night. Have not heard back from the mechanic yet. He said it was a going to be a tuff project and that my stillen CBE was a terrible fit for my car. Its to bad because the car runs very well and makes good power with all the exhaust modifications.
Next trip is tto the exhaust specialist . to have the pipes bent so that everything lines up and does not hit the cross brace.

I wish I had read this prior to buying. I like the sound of the pipes but had what sounds like the same clearance issue. There is a cross member right behind where the front Y pipe connects to the center section. There was nearly no clearance there when all the bolts were tightened. My assumption at that point was that perhaps that cross member was unique to the Roadster since it has no roof to stabilize the body but from what I'm reading here it sounds like the exact same problem. I may be wrong though since I haven't seen the underside of the coupe. Most compelling though is that the guy that owns the muffler shop where my brother works (and where I had my brother install the catback) suggested putting washers under the cross frame bolts as a quick fix until I could come back and have the pipes bent a bit. From that I think we are talking about the same darn cross member. If so, what a disappointment.

where did you order it from? i know there was a batch sent out with fitment issues from the start but has been corrected since, I bought mine directly from Stillen.

I bought directly from Stillen as well, about three weeks ago. I guess it is probably an easy thing to fix.
