Agreed. One thing I learned from this game, or this tournament, Wesley Sneijder is f'in clutch. And the fact that I think the rest of the teams in the WC know all of Robbens favorite moves, i/e cut ball back across the box for a left footed shot... he tried 4 times today, all stimied by stingy Brazilians lol

sooooo...thoughts on who to put in for van der wiel and de jong?

Red370 07-02-2010 12:02 PM

oh, and I fucking hate how ESPN and all the papers are calling this a "Shock" defeat, there is nothing "SHOCKING' about it, Holland has always fielded a solid squad, and this years team is loaded with World Class players, I say it was an evenly matched game and one team got one more goal than the other. No shock here.

great game!

Wait, you don't mean to say that ESPN sensationalized something, do you?! What a surprise!

VdV will step in for De Jong, I think Marwijk will have to shift the formation around to accommodate his style.

Braafheid will step in for Van der Wield without a doubt.

shyt just drives me nuts man, "The Dutch shocking the world and Brazil"... who is shocked? Will the world be "Shocked" when Germany bodies up on Messi and shuts down the Argentina midfield to win 2-1? You heard it here folks, Germany 2, Argentina 1 (ball glances off of DiMichaelis's woman-like locks through Neuers legs), Poldi and Mueller on the sheet for the Deutsch.

phelan 07-02-2010 12:12 PM

germany 3-2 argentina

oezil will get a ridiculous strike out of nowhere to make him even more expensive in the transfer window

messi will get one with a ridiculous run in the dying moments of the game down 3-1 so he goes out with at least one goal to his name

Oh, I concur. Anyone who has ever watched this tournament knows that the Dutch always field a strong team. That game was a clash of titans, not david/goliath. But, like hockey, ESPN doesn't care enough to get the story right.

I must say though, im kinda sad that RvP hasnt exploded like I predicted, figured he'd be a shoe in for the golden boot. Not like he'd been given alot of chances though, he seen a few looks today and I was surprised to not see him on the scoresheet.

Did I not tell you he wouldnt be the main player this WC?

you dont predict a goal off a set piece by DiMichaelis's flowing (held back by a wide, 80's style headband) locks? I see this one for sure. I just think the Germans are going to be very physical against Messi's slight stature and knock him off the ball too easily for him to make an impact. And Oezil, yeah, hes probably going to play his self off of the Arsenal transfer list and onto Barca's with a wonder strike...

thats ok, hes building up his goal meter, just waiting to explode with a flurry of lasers and rifle shots all over the unfortunate team to face them in the next round.
