Watching BVB vs Schalke. I love watching Bundesliga, but I wish there were two commentary guys. Hearing the one guy-- who does a good job-- by himself is always a little uncomfortable.

I also wish the commentator was AT the match. You can tell by the muted crowd noise that he's in a studio.

Also, Moritz Leitner of Dortmund spends too much time in the tanning bed. He's a really unnatural color.

Gary Speed's death really bums me. I never was a Newcastle fan, but they were good when I started watching the EPL & were on a lot, so I always kind of liked him as a player (mostly for his neat name).

I was excited to see what Wales would do in World Cup Qualifying as they were looking an exciting outfit under his guidance.

apparent suicide. tragic loss. wales were coming together under his guidance, but football takes a back seat now. just terrible loss.

watching swansea aston villa highlights is really hard, given just looks absolutely shattered.

GS always struck me as a clean/honorable player, he was Newcastles talisman in the midfield, one of the most noteable names to ever put on the shirt and a legend at St. James, its tragic for a player to die, but even moreso when its done by his own hands, he must've had some inner demons that nobody could see. Even worse, he had a wife and two children.

From what I remember of him as a player, he seemed mentally strong, one who could lift his team by its neck & win a game late. & yet, this.

It makes me want to make sure I don't tell people who seem down in the dumps to "suck it up," y'know? If someone who appeared so strong can be that depressed....

yeah....

Dortmund star only wants Arsenal or Barca move | gunnersphere.com

Barca already has a wealth of skilled midfielders, they wont pay 30 mil for him. I'd say AW needs to break the bank and toss 40 at Dortmund in January. They seem to be fighting tooth and nail to keep him. The kid is only 19, imagine how much more he'll develop playing for us, could become one of the worlds best in a few years. Only downside would be the fact that he's cup tied, but damn I want this kid at Arsenal, moreso than Hazard because he's a winger and we have enough of them. He'd be a natural replacement for Arteta who'll probably be retiring within the next 3-5 years.

It sounds like a lot of people close to Speed knew he was fighting personal demons. Shame to see him go like that, but a friend of mine noted how at least it's making people aware of depression in sports.

I read an article somewhere that Speed hanged himself because a tabloid was about to print a fairly personal article about him. Kind of makes me sick that the media has enough power to a good man to the ground like this.

There's been a few fairly high profile suicides in recent years, most notably Robert Enke & a retired Italian keeper whose name escapes me (jumped out a window-- I can't remember whether he died, though). Maybe Speed's death will help bring some light to a terrible disease-- the media, & especially the English one, tends to ignore just about everything happening outside the UK. One would think a high profile athlete like Enke's death would have gotten more press, but it was kind of a footnote.

I'll give AFC $20 to get Goetze.

I don't see Arteta staying at Arsenal long-term, but you really think he's going to retire so soon ?
