2014 Formula One Thread

So the Spanish President has confirmed Alonso to McLaren....? I'm really eager to know if Button and Vergne will be on the grid next year.

Really hoping Button will drive for Honda again next year with McLaren, been my favorite driver since his BAR days.

I had a conference call scheduled with Pieter Rossi Monday but had to pass it on to a colleague of mine to take. Once I have any news, I'll post here. Pieter Rossi is the principal of Team Rossi Motorsports, and father of Alexander Rossi.

I'm assuming most of you would support him if you could, right?

Official: McLaren confirms Alonso and Button for 2015 - Pitpass.com

That will be a great line-up and fun intra-team battle to watch. Glad Mclaren are keeping Jenson on board. Should be fun!

Since I appreciate the adage, "if you can't say something nice..." I will just say that I am very disappointed with Formula 1 after my first season of watching every lap raced.

With that being said, my nephew is graduating from college this year with an engineering degree and he is very interested in at least applying to the Haas F1 team. Would anyone know a person that either works for an F1 team or has close contacts with one? I would like to get my hands on a really good resume and see if there are any other tips that might help.

Also, I am taking my nephew to the Montreal Grand Prix next year, and I wanted to see the best way to go about getting tickets and/or a package deal. Any recommendations?

Surf the venue website for race tickets. Book now as popular is Montreal. Also book a hotel now. The teams take up quite a bit of the better hotels. I was there in 2005 and stayed at the Sheraton. Honda and some of the Ferrari folks were there and I was able to chat with them etc.
I have major contacts in the sport none of which are aligned with Haas. I can send a few emails out and hopefully get some recommendations. Considering more than a few engineers were made unemployed recently I would think Haas will have very experienced folks applying now if not already.

Well it looks like the Canadian Grand Prix won't work for my nephew, so we are going to the USGP in October. Thinking about driving my Z down so as I experience some of that thick air the cars like so much!

The ticket prices seem to be a bit more for the US race, so would anyone be able to recommend a location/level where a good race experience is to be had? I am looking to spend between $500-$700 a ticket.

That would be awesome and greatly appreciated. Living away from Europe and North Carolina in the middle of the country doesn't provide too many opportunities to meet F1 people.

Really, all I am looking for is a good F1 resume as a starting point for my nephew's. Again, thanks for any assistance!

^At the very least, I would post to the Facebook page of Haas to ask where to view any open positions.

The venue website should have packages available for purchase. As far as I know, any third party packages are usually exclusive, VIP priced packages.

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/loc...260376842.html

Miami Gardens residents make a last-ditch appeal to stop the race due to noise concerns.

I should edit to include a great comment from another board about this...

From the article: "The noise from F1 cars is completely unacceptable."

Something that every F1 fan can agree with since the beginning of the Hybrid Turbo era. :-)
