i was watching inside MMA tonight and they basically explained as fedor has a financial interest in M-1 and it something he sees as his future beyond his fighting career. ( i guess he has some sort of part ownership maybe?) so he isnt going to fight for an organization where M-1 cannot be co promoted. UFC is like all the co promotion would do is build up M-1 and wouldnt offer anything in return for UFC. so thats the main sticking point, Fedor isnt gonna fight under any organization where the M-1 brand that like i said he has some sort of stake in is not promoted
so it looks like a impassable road block for the moment, i dont think it has anything to do with oh fedor is dodging UFC or certain rules or trying to preserve his untarnished name. i was thinking why cant they just do a 1 fight deal? but then i mean could it be for the UFC title? what if he wins? that means more fights and more M-1 promotion. i think dana white doesnt want them to leech on to the UFC and possibly become more of a control issue the longer fedor stays in UFC Last edited by MC; 07-31-2009 at 10:43 PM. |

I have to say I'm with Dana on this one. From the rumors I heard he did everything he could to make it happen. I've been a fan of Fedor but I don't want to hear anybody say anything about how good he is until he puts up.

I've been into MMA since '95. I watched UFC (the first NHB event) and Pride since its inception, 1997. I wrestled in high school, then transitioned to BJJ, then Thai boxing. I'm not a casual fan to let you know. Nobody knows for certain why Fedor is dodging the UFC...but my guess is that he's doing it for money reasons. The Gracies, especially Rickson, Frank Shamrock and a few other fighters played their little game of perpetuating an invincible aura while artificially raising their stock price. Fedor is nowhere near worth $5M per fight. I won't delve into this, but UFC (the biggest--revenue and popularity--wise) MMA promo cannot afford to drop that kind of money per fight on 1 fighter. I wished I saved the link, but it was one in which Dana White explained why UFC fighters' pay is commensurate to what the financial figures give off. He explained why UFC cannot afford to pay "pro boxing" level money to its marquee fighters. He broke down revenue, recurring expenses, liabilities, sponsors, etc., and it all made sense. UFC does not underpay its fighters. Besides, nobody is putting a gun to their heads to fight. That's why Tito is running back because he can't get the kind of money he "deserves." |

Fedor signs with Strikeforce, will fight this fall - Cagewriter - Mixed Martial Arts - Yahoo! Sports
Well. This certainly changes things, doesn't it? Fedor Emelianenko, the number two fighter in Yahoo's pound-for-pound rankings, and the subject of contentious negotiations with the UFC, has now signed with Strikeforce. From the Strikeforce press release: “I am looking forward to going back to work and fighting at the highest level," said the 33-year-old Emelianenko. During his nine year professional fight career, which included a four and a half year stay with the world’s former top MMA promotion, the now defunct PRIDE Fighting Championship, the Russian native has faced and defeated all comers. The good: Fedor will fight soon, and he will fight on Showtime, more widely available to average American MMA fans than a pay-per-view. This will definitely bolster Strikeforce's reputation as a promotion as their willingness to co-promote with M-1 means that they beat out the UFC on getting Fedor. Co-promotion was a sticking point with Fedor and the UFC, as the UFC was willing to give Fedor every demand except for that one. This could also help Strikeforce attract up-and-coming heavyweights, as it seems everyone wants a shot at Fedor. The bad: In Strikeforce, Fedor will likely face Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum or Brett Rogers. As an MMA fan, I know that they are formidable opponents. But those names do nothing to rouse the interest of a casual fan, and any fight that Strikeforce can make will not get anywhere near the buzz as Fedor vs. Brock Lesnar would have. The old 'Ricksonitis' or 'Frank Shamrock' deal is going on--cherry picking opponents, or pitting yourself against no-namers and demanding big money.
Allistair isn't a no-namer though, that boy can some drop bombs. |

[QUOTE=CBRich;136606]Ha! Overeem. Would love to see him pass a CSAC test. Size is not an indicator of HGH or steroid use, BUT growth of the jaw and brow are.
true.. but when u exercise and train constantly ur body develops more hormones. so yeah he could be taking steroids or hes just a maniac in the gym (gym= place of weight lifting or place to train) |
