Well not Manning of course, but don't forget about Welker's fumble and the guy dropping the ball before crossing the goal line.

Manning was sloppy too, especially early on.

This was a ravens loss, not a broncos win....but I'll take it.

They are who we thought they were!

I disagree. The Bronco's thoroughly dismantled the over-hyped Ravens.

Not sure why anyone thought this would even be close. The Ravens got rid of their offense (your fault, Flacco - they had to overpay you) and defense. They're in complete rebuild mode, but won't be able to, because they're paying a non-elite QB way, waaaayyy too much money.

At least Rice got me a TD. In my other league. :ugh2:

Damn. Not looking good for a Ravens repeat this year if that's all they're bringing to the table. I guess they're not a defensive team anymore. The best hit the Ravens delivered was that ******* taking Jacoby Jones out of the game. As a Texans fan, I'll always love seeing him get demolished.

Let's be real though, the Broncos demolished the Ravens in the regular season last year too, and probably should have in the postseason as well.

There's a lot of luck in football.

Guy on the radio just said Denver was +9 going into this game.

Are you kidding me?! for Vegas.

Peyton got away with 3+ should-be picks, and the ravens failed to capitalize on a number of opportunities (denver's secondary coverage was awful).

Peyton's offensive run was to be expected given the injuries and the fact that he's got DT88, Decker, Welker, and Thomas to throw to....that's a tall order for any team.

IMO both teams are seriously overhyped. I will say I was very impressed with Denver's run-D. They stopped up Rice on demand. I was also impressed with the pass coverage--it should have been better, but covering up Suggs and Doom is tough.

The Ravens actually looked better than I expected and I think they'll have a good run this year. Pass D was good, and the receivers were getting open even if Flacco wasn't getting the ball there. Bmores O-line looked great at pass-blocking (at least early on). If B-more can establish Rice more strongly early on, it will give Flacco the time he needs to contemplate what to do before he randomly chucks the ball downfield and hopes for the best.

Maybe the Ravens got lucky last year, maybe not. Either way, last night was hilarious. Did they field a secondary at all? I guess it'll be a few more weeks before we know if the Broncos are really that good, the Ravens are really that bad, or it was just the first game of the season and everybody was really rusty.

I don't think seven passing TDs constitutes a solid passing defense.

I didn't watch the game (was dying at the ASU game) so I don't know what anyone looked like. I only caught the last 7min when D. Thomas ran that 40yd TD in or whatever.

Watching the game tells a different story than looking at the box score, especially when a lot of the passing TDs were later on when the Ravens were playing a different game. A whole lot of what the Broncos got done was due to things like random luck (ball bouncing out of bounds post-fumble) and chance (failing to challenge the catch on that screen, a lot of throws into coverage that were saved by weak throws).

The Broncos pass O should be reminiscent of glory-era pats, perhaps even better. It's not there, but it's still at the kind of point where covering up DT and Decker until you've given up on the game and are avoiding injury is no small feat.

Haboob 09-06-2013 08:43 AM

I heard they didn't even have to cover Decker. Bastard had TO hands and kept dropping the ball. :shakes head:

Chuck33079 09-06-2013 08:47 AM

Letting Boldin go is looking fairly stupid right about now. No Pitta, Dickson wasn't good at all, Jacoby's hurt and he sucks 99 times out of 100. It's going to be the Ray Rice show this year. Baltimore's D apparently missed the flight to Denver.

Broncos D looked fairly good considering Miller and Bailey were out. Other than dumbass dropping the pick 6 outside the endzone. Peyton was Peyton.

also bear in mind that opening day in Denver has got to be tough for sea-level east coast wimps:icon17:
