I'd have let him walk. Ravens won't win another Superbowl til they get rid of him. They won't have the money to spend on the rest of the team. At a certain point doesn't someone have to say "Okay guys, this is ridiculous."?

Yeah, that's because the stars are aligned just so this year. Shitty emerging QB class, no good QBs on the free agent market etc.

This. Doesn't flacco have to honest with himself? He's good, but not even top 5 IMHO.

He won the football lottery. I'm sure he knows it.

-Held out renegotiating his contract PRIOR to playoff run
-Won superbowl
-Above average passing year
-MANY teams seeking "qb of the future" in the off season
-Sh*tty FA market
-Sh*tty emerging QB class

One in a million shot.

Couldnt agree more^

Nailed it. You're right. His stats are average at best until his first good year this year. Good, not elite. I just find it crazy wasteful. I'm an accountant, I guess I just think that way. If I was a Ravens fan I'd be more pissed than happy lol.

He has the ravens over a barrel because they have no other options and if they were to immediately backslide, the fans would absolutely crucify them.

With Lewis leaving, that team will need a leader (forgot to add that to the equation above). Plus Reed's status is up in the air too. Imagine if all 3 of those guys were to leave this season. In terms of star quality they'd have uh... Suggs and Rice and that's pretty much it other than the D line ogres.

b1adesofcha0s 03-01-2013 09:03 PM

Flacco can be an elite QB when he's on top of his game. Problem is, he can be one of the worst on a not so good day. That lack of consistency keeps his stats average. I don't think he's gonna be the Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers type of QB. He'll be more like Eli Manning: mediocre during the season, but nearly unstoppable if he gets hot in the playoffs.

The biggest DISRESPECT for money! That is why Professional Sports is like it is, people glorifying players or the kids seeing them as role models....

In the mean time this country is going downhill but not professional athlets...

Flacco wins a single SB and get the biggest QB contract of the History in NFL. What a shame for proven QBs like Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana & Dan Marino to mention a few.

yup, the contract wont change him, I met him at training camp in 2009, was a real classy guy signing autographs, and although I didn't get the autograph , we did talk for a few minutes, the man is the definition of his nickname "Joe Cool" or "average joe" 120 million contract, still same ol' Joe. money doesn't and wont change who he is as a person. and that's something other players in the NFL don't do, so I give him props

There was that guy from Maryland who had a crazy 40 time that has his superstar moments playing for the Raiders (which is hard enough to pull off as it is).

Edit: I hate Deon Sanders and his dumb commercial.

you thinking of Darius Hayward-Bey I believe, yea I agree, they have their moments, but they aren't consistent (from what we've experienced at least lol)

dmhenderson 03-05-2013 10:25 AM

The problem is that you don't get those super speedster guys in a well rounded offense (because they're drafted early) in the 2-5 years they'll be able to put up those kinds of numbers and then develop.

b1adesofcha0s 03-05-2013 10:36 AM

Well the problem usually is that those guys themselves are usually not well rounded. Sure they can run fast, but can they run routes, catch, get separation from defenders, block, etc.

I dunno how big the guy is but yeah, that's a factor.

Wes Welker is reportedly going to test the free agent market. If he leaves NE, we definitely need to get a receiver in the 1st round of the draft.
