I'd have let him walk. Ravens won't win another Superbowl til they get rid of him. They won't have the money to spend on the rest of the team. At a certain point doesn't someone have to say "Okay guys, this is ridiculous."?

He won the football lottery. I'm sure he knows it.
-Held out renegotiating his contract PRIOR to playoff run -Won superbowl -Above average passing year -MANY teams seeking "qb of the future" in the off season -Sh*tty FA market -Sh*tty emerging QB class One in a million shot. |
Couldnt agree more^

He has the ravens over a barrel because they have no other options and if they were to immediately backslide, the fans would absolutely crucify them.
With Lewis leaving, that team will need a leader (forgot to add that to the equation above). Plus Reed's status is up in the air too. Imagine if all 3 of those guys were to leave this season. In terms of star quality they'd have uh... Suggs and Rice and that's pretty much it other than the D line ogres. |
Flacco can be an elite QB when he's on top of his game. Problem is, he can be one of the worst on a not so good day. That lack of consistency keeps his stats average. I don't think he's gonna be the Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers type of QB. He'll be more like Eli Manning: mediocre during the season, but nearly unstoppable if he gets hot in the playoffs.

"...When Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco signs his six-year, $120.6 million contract today, $52 million of that is guaranteed, according to a report in USA Today. The Super Bowl MVP will receive $51 million over the first two years of the deal and $62 million over the first three years..."

In the mean time this country is going downhill but not professional athlets... Flacco wins a single SB and get the biggest QB contract of the History in NFL. What a shame for proven QBs like Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana & Dan Marino to mention a few. :shakes head: :shakes head: :shakes head: :shakes head: |

The problem is that you don't get those super speedster guys in a well rounded offense (because they're drafted early) in the 2-5 years they'll be able to put up those kinds of numbers and then develop.
|
Well the problem usually is that those guys themselves are usually not well rounded. Sure they can run fast, but can they run routes, catch, get separation from defenders, block, etc.

Wes Welker is reportedly going to test the free agent market. If he leaves NE, we definitely need to get a receiver in the 1st round of the draft.

Poor guy. We should take up a collection for him.
