I like the Rockets... Aaron Brooks is going to be a good point gaurd when gets some more experience under his belt. (Also, its my home team )

The Nuggets are also one of my more favorited teams.

P.S. I really like any team EXCEPT the Lakers and Jazz.... those teams can go burn in hell!

arcticreaver 07-02-2009 10:47 PM

Lakers! Ariza made a mistake by leaving. What's 1 or 2 million more for someone who already makes 6 million a year? He's going to know what it feels like to keep losing and never getting back to the finals again. He'll be sorry. Artest on the other hand is smart. He'll forfeight some money to play with a consistent winning team. We got something to look forward to next season with all of the changes. Boston will probably get Rasheed Wallace and Shaq is in Cleveland. I hope one of these two faces the Lakers.

I grew up a Mavs fan, but became a Hornets fan as soon as they moved to New Orleans. I really hope the Bugs do something big in free agency, but I think they're up a sh1t creek overpaying some guys.

Are you serious? I love Trevor but Artest is just better in every dimension.

cow 07-03-2009 09:26 AM

Ariza is the classic example of a team falling in love with a guy because of a good playoff run. He was an 8 PPG guy & a pretty good defender in the regular season, but not an elite Shane Battier/ Ron Artest defender. Remember Jerome James a few years ago? 3 PPG guy who had a big playoff run, so the Knicks signed him to something like five years, 35 million. Since then, he's been a 3 PPG guy.

Ariza possibly has upside as he's only 24, so it might not be a bad pickup for Houston (bad for NO, potentially. Boo). It seems like they didn't overpay too heavily for him, which is good.

TX_370 07-03-2009 03:28 PM

Artest played HORRIBLE in the playoffs... He did nothing therefore if Ariza continues to do nothing then its an even trade off.

And I argee, Shane is one hell of a defender and so is Artest, but now with Yao hurt seriously (he probably wont be back until mid-season, if at all) the Rockets NEED scorers. Artest missed like 28 or 29 3's in a row during the playoffs; percentages like that just will not cut it. He did great in the regular season, but the playoffs is where it matters and Ariza showed he could handle it.

cow 07-03-2009 05:11 PM

Ariza averaged 11 PPG in the playoffs. It's a solid contribution, but he's not a top scorer. He may develop into an OK third option, but if Houston is planning to use him as a main scorer, it might be a bad move.

Either way, Adleman knows a lot more about basketball than I do, so it'll probably be a good pickup.

houston, if wise, would use tracy as the 1st option and ariza as the 2nd option. ariza is a good spot up shooter but he doesn't create shots for himself. he can drive and slash to the rim but most of the time, it's a team effort, unlike kobe, lebron, wade, etc, where they all can just get the ball to the hoop while making ridiculous moves along the way.

ariza's agent IS THE IDIOT. playing hard ball with the lakers? you got to be KIDDING ME!

when you are in LA with the Lakers and not the Clippers, and winning basketball games, you are a star even if you aren't really a star. but going to houston? you are just another player on the team that occasionally brings their A game.

don't get me wrong, trevor was a great player for the lakers, but he should have stayed and played with the lakers. same money with artest and he would have became a star at least in LA.

30+ million with a five year contract will get you a decent life i guess, but on the basketball court, another loser on a post YAO and a future lottery team. good luck man, i wish you the best.

For all the pain I suffered watching the Jailbreakers...in spite of Darius Miles' little outburst to Coach Cheeks...for Greg Oden missing his rookie season and having lots to live up to this season (because this would be nuts if Durant were a Blazer)...they're still my team. And I'm not even FROM Portland, I'm a Los Angelean! This roster is ridiculously loaded with talent - Andre Miller has signed, Brandon Roy will be free to make nights hellish for opposing team defense, LaMarcus Aldrige is an underrated PF (with somewhat good reason...post game where?), and...yep, Greg Oden, whom all I pray for is to be a defensive monster. And that's with Martell Webster returning from injury with Nic Batum, Rudy Fernandez, and Travis Outlet WAITING ON THE BENCH!

BTW, I don't hate the Lakers, but I hate 80% of LakerNation for their "support". Psh, Staples Center has no HEART. Regular season games mean nothing to these people, it really is "win or go home", where "go home" means "we'll utterly destroy you if you don't bring home the goods". I love places like the Rose Garden, where people actually understand the nuances of a good team defense, and can appreciate effort even if it's not "flashy".

Yes the Lakers will have a strong chance to win the championship this year. No, I'm not jumping on the stupid bandwagon. Regarding logos, however, THIS made me laugh: “This is our logo. We’re the Lakers. What’s that in our logo? It’s a basketball. Why? Because we’re the basketball team from Los Angeles. What’s our mascot? What do you mean? You think we’re concerned that our team name has no obvious personification, and we’re going to have some kind of Steeley McBeam debacle? Please. Our mascot is Kobe Bryant’s middle finger. What’s that? You’ve noticed that some idiot named Bob Short decided that one of our primary colors should be purple? You think that’s kind of gay? Let me refer you to our mascot. We’re the Lakers. **** you.”
