2012 NASCAR Season
Well that was definitely an interesting Daytona 500. The flames were pretty!
I am glad to see that they are back to the mass pack racing rather than the tandem weirdness. Being a Jr. fan I am also glad to see him finish second. Congratulations to Matt Kenseth! Any predictions as to who will win it all this year? I am tempted to pick Carl Edwards, but I have a feeling that Tony Stewart will be even stronger than last year. |

My money's on Tony Stewart as well, or at least someone on his team. I think Danica being around there will bring some unique perspectives to the team, and that's always a good thing for keeping your edge.
As for the Daytona 500, honestly it's almost as if the whole weekend was movie-scripted for maximum drama-rama. Which kinda makes you wonder, given the series' obvious past acknowledgement that wrecks == advertising money... /conspiracymode. Not that NASCAR was ever exactly high-brow entertainment, but it seems like they could be on track to reach WWF levels of ridiculous over the coming years . |

I don't think you could script any of what happened this weekend. It's speedway racing... which is just... weird.
Can't wait to get to some regular racing now. As for the season, I think Stewart will be strong again. Wondering if the 48 can get back to his winning ways.

I think if you were in attendance at Daytona you would probably not appreciate the drama. The cleaning of the jet dryer aftermath was so tedious!
My thought when Jimmie went into the wall on the second lap was that he probably has a high chance of taking the championship. That boy has some determination in him! |

But the big jet fuel flame wall could totally have been scripted. It happened while nobody was really racing, there was a jet dryer out there on the track and a lone car playing catchup. The result was an almost perfect wall of fire across the track, burning jet fuel and looking for all the world like a pyrotechnic display designed to entertain the crowd. /conspiracy-nut-mode off |
