My guess is that with the stress of them having a horrible season, we the fans and a new born was to much to handle.
I know some women go through issues after they give birth. I just wonder if that was why they were arguing the night before and up until he shot her. Then he drove to the practice facility and thanked them for giving him a chance and took his own life in front of them.

Are you serious? Some dude selfishly offs himself and the rest of the team should suffer? Of course they're still playing today. I'm sure there will be a moment of silence but let's not martyr this guy. He murdered his wife in front of his mother and then took the coward's way out.

Yeah right, lol. You guys are so lucky Rapeberger was out for both games. Don't think you would have won the last one if he was in.

IMO taking a day off was so everyone can take some time to process what happened and to try and get mentally prepared for it. I mean the coaches and GM saw it happened right in front of them. I know the GM was traumatized and who knows if they are even mentally prepared to go through a game right now.

That being said though, I think playing the game can also be a good way to help keep what happened out of their minds and continue on with their everyday lives. It was the team's decision to keep playing the game today, so they must be ok with it. I don't think all the players were happy with that decision though.

Slow your roll there hoss. I'm not saying that what he did was right by any form or fashion. What about the palyers, the coach who had to watch someone commit suicide in front of him? That's what I was talking about.
On the same note not only were two lives lost but one will have to begin without a mother or father because of his actions. Also the mother never seen him do it. She was in the other room. Get your facts straight before you go off on someone.

They are currently playing like I ahve never seen them play all year. Even some of the players wanted to put his number on their helmets but was told they were not allowed due to his own actions.

Yeah that would be bad if they did that.

I feel bad for the kid and the poor girlfriend (and the mother) but this guy doesn't deserve a day of mouring. I don't care if he was a saint prior to today. He murdered his girlfriend and ruined his kid's life in the most selfish and horrible way I can think of.

1) I didn't "go off". I just don't feel sorry for the guy or think he deserves an ounce of pity or a crappy halftime monologue. His mom and orphaned kid probably don't give a rat's a@@ whether the team played today or not.

2) Deadspin initially reported (while the story was breaking) that he shot his girlfriend in front of his mother. So they weren't "my facts" but thanks!

Nothing I said was directed at you. Professional athlete gets f'ed up on pain pills and booze and shoots his girlfriend to death then offs himself and everyone wants to nominate him for sainthood and honor his memory.

If this guy hadn't been a professional football player this wouldn't have even made the local 10 o'clock news.
