That's easier said than done. Texans aren't as good on offense as the Giants were. Slow down Foster + keep Johnson in check and you pretty much shut them down. They aren't built to play from behind.

As long as RG3 comes back healthy and stays healthy we have something to build off of and can do more next season. Its been a long time since Washington has actually had something to look forward to in the NFL.

Yep, and we're not going anywhere. I'm pleased with the progress we've seen and certainly hope it continues. The only part of the Seattle loss I'm unhappy about were the repeated cheap shots taken by Seattle that went unpenalized.

...and the texans don't have a snowball's chance in hell against the post-season Pats at Gillette.

The last team to pull that off was the Jets and that was when they were a pretty decent team.

Shanahan should have taken RG3 out to protect his long term health. If his knee injury gets really bad, then you risk losing one of his greatest advantages as a mobile QB.

bdavis89 01-07-2013 09:38 AM

Everyone is bashing Shanahan, but RG3 simply isn't the player that is going to allow himself to be taken out of the game.

I said it when he was in college, RG3 will have an injury riddled NFL career. He's just too small/skinny to be taking the NFL sized hits associated with being mobile.

Yes but that's where the coach has to step in to do what's best for the team and the player's futures. I mean it was clear to everyone who was watching that he was playing essentially on one leg, which made him an even bigger target for the defense.

Shanahan isn't exactly known for discouraging risky behavior from his QBs

I have the stomach flu so this might happen.

not trolling semantics... ur just wrong is all

one bad call didnt change the game. multiple bad calls did. they all had an effect or nine did. u cant pick and choose just because its convenient.

If RG3 had pulled a....RGIII and won that game somehow, we wouldn't be having this discussion. He didn't want to take him out and Fake-tan shanny believed he still gave us the best chance to win. Granted, both of them turned out to be wrong but hindsight 20/20 etc.

That said, this discussion is academic now but EVEN if we had managed to win the Seattle game somehow, we would be without RG3 for the remainder of the post season which might work out ok in Atlanta, but probably wouldn't in Green Bay and most definitely would not in SanFran.

I'm not so sure about that. Even if they had won, keeping them there for that long would have hurt his chances for coming back the following week. It's one thing to do that when you have a sh1tty backup (Joe Webb anyone?), but Cousins is actually pretty good. It was obvious for a while that RG3 couldn't move the ball and that's when they should have realized they needed to make a change.
