Like I posted in here earlier, he doesn't carry himself like a respected champion should. He seems to be the only current UFC champion with these issues. He's making the news for getting his DUI where as another rising star in JDS is doing the same for bringing a poor kid from Brazil to watch his fight in the US. I may like Jones fighting style better, but I respect JDS as a champion much more. |

Jones is going to move up to heavyweight eventually, but when that will happen is not clear yet. Seems Dana White is not quite ready for Jones to make that transition yet. I don't think he'll have any trouble getting through Henderson. Not sure where they will go after that. I can see him having rematches with Shogun, Machida, and/or Evans before he eventually moves up to heavyweight.

With the way Jones beat all those guys I don't see how Dana or the Fertitta's can think any of those rematches will bring big money. Other than a fluke I don't see anyone having any better luck next time. Dan Henderson has a better chance of sneaking in his H-Bomb on him. After this fight I think they quit BS'ing and have him move up. But just like the long debate of GSP vs Silva or Silva vs Jones it likely won't happen anytime soon.

I like how Dan Henderson is sitting and waiting for Jones like a BOSS! He was asked about cardio in a recent interview and he laughed and said he hasn't ran in years. He is in there to do one thing and that is to knock you out. He always delivers just like Chuck did in his prime. But yea Dan is coming to the end of the line and he knows it.

I'd do like they do with Anderson Silva and just keep him right at Light Heavyweight and welcome all comers. |

Jon Jones dominance is partly due to his size and reach advantage. Given he has a figher's acumen and has developed very good skill set in a short period of time. But his dominance shows he is leagues ahead of everyone else. Which have grown up mostly fighting. Not just getting into in the past 4-5 years like Jones. This is where his size controls a big part of his dominance. He is a freak. Yes he has the right to stay at Light Heavyweight and welcome all comers. The only person I see coming on the horizon and still is a few fights out from even becoming a serious contender is Alex Gustafsson. He has potential but is lacking in key skills to be an actual threat to Jones. If Jones wants to create a legacy he goes out after dominating the field in LHW and moves up to HW after putting on size and keeping his skills up and makes a go of it. If it doesnt work out he can always come back to LHW but it will be harder to cut the weight and as he gets older cutting gets more tedious anyway. It will be interesting in which way he decides to go after another couple fights.

I read an article a little while back where they talked to Dana White about moving Jones to heavyweight and it seemed like they didn't want to do that for a while. While he is a beast at 205, there's no guarantee he will do better at heavyweight, especially when there's a good chance he'll be giving up a good 30-40 lbs to some of his opponents. Jones has been good at keeping the fight standing up at 205, but I don't think he can keep doing that against guys who are much bigger than him. I think guys like Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez would be able to put him down and keep them there. This does however depend on how much weight Jones will actually put on when/if he does make the move up. It will slow him down for sure and just hope it doesn't affect him the same way it seemed to affect GSP. You also have to remember guys at heavyweight hit much harder than those at light heavyweight. Taking punches from JDS is much different than taking punches from Rashad Evans. |

I think the best thing for Jones would be to do what they did with Anderson Silva. Keep him as LHW champ, but give him a few test fights at HW to see how he does. If he does good, they can start thinking about moving him up. If not, he can stay at LHW and continue being the champ.
I don't think he's quite as unbeatable as I used to think. I think it's more about having the right strategy to beat him. Machida might have done it if he didn't lose all that blood from that elbow. I think Shogun has the ability to do it as well if he's at his best. He'd have to use a lot of his leg kicks to slow down Jones and make it easier to get him into striking range. |

Trying to set up a meet to watch UFC 148. If anyone's interested, there's a thread posted in the Mid-Atlantic section

So predictions for UFC 148 this weekend? Here are mine:
Silva vs Sonnen: Silva wins by murder KO. Griffin vs Ortiz: Griffin wins by decision. That's about all the educated predictions I can make for this card. Haven't watched some of the other fighters enough to make a decision on who I think will win. |

Silva vs Sonnen - Sonnen is going to be high on bath salts, testosterone, and whatever else he can get his hands on. If Silva doesn't knock him out in the first round. Then its going to be more ground n pound pain for Silva and only hopes of his survival is to catch Sonnen in a submission. Really this fight can go either way but with Sonnen approved to take testosterone you are going to see a very motivated jacked up Sonnen this time around as well.
Griffin vs Ortiz - Depends on which Griffin shows up. I hate Ortiz so I am going to go with Griffen and hope he doesn't let me down....again. Cung Le vs Patrick Cote - Cung Le by decision Dong Hyun Kim vs Demian Maia - Maia by submission Chad Mendes vs Cody McKenzie - Mendes by KO Ivan Menjiver vs Mike Easton - someone is getting KO'd |
