I almost feel like he threw the fight or something.. I mean I know he didnt but with the post fight interview about not wanting a rematch and not wanting to fight for the belt it just felt off to me. that was probably him coping with what just happened 30 secs later but I said to myself earlier this week we are due for one of the anderson silly *** fights like maia and leites and I was right but damn I couldnt have imagined it would be like that.. during round 1 when he was dropping his hands asking weidman to hit him i told my brother what if he got caught ( i think mayhem did that to bisping and got rocked) but wow I about had a heart attack jumping around the house when he layed anderson out.. just crazy I hadnt been that hyped since the either the fedor henderson fight or when wanderlei layed stann out.
All respect to weidman but i know if Vitor gets the shot he will beat weidman.. there are so many guys waiting now that the 185 division doesnt have a stranglehold on it anymore and I think the title will bounce around over the next year or so....that is unless that make him rematch silva.. because if that happens I will bet my GTR silva will destroy him as you want see any of that clowning around he have chris that fight tonight with antics. |
Agreed with MC but I don't have a GTR to bet lol

There was definitely something off about the end of that fight and the post fight interview. I feel like there is some shady business going on behind the scenes, but I don't know what or why exactly. He seemed pretty relieved with that loss. I'm just hoping we see a rematch with a serious Anderson Silva. |
yeah i mean vitor the last few months just comes off as a madman on a tear and I think he wont be denied if anderson is out of the way. pray to jesus and shoot up some more testosterone and it will happen lol
Im watching the post fight conference and dana is saying people are idiots if they think this will affect andersons legacy but I cant agree, I mean you cant take anything away from him but this loss to me is as or more memorable than every win he has ever had.. I take nothing away from weidman but anderson gave the fight to him with his BS. its true he is known to taunt and play games but this was way too much. when he faked being hurt he left himself so open i could have knocked the guy out thats why im saying it almost feels like he threw it maybe not literally but his attitude is like he could care less. thats the thing about anderson I am amazed by the talent but i just never feel like i get the guy and tonight just dumbfounded me as ive never seen a guy try to hard to loose. but on the other hand...I will say that when he was doing the bruce lee bounce into the side kick I was drinking the anderson kool aid and was screaming to my buddy on the couch see cant nobody touch this guy...so yes if he would have won doing all that stupid **** i would be on here saying he is jesus christ of mma so its one of those live by the sword die by it type things.. and his *** got slayed by it tonight. |
Lot of speculation on the interwebz that silva bet a huge sum against himself and threw the fight.

If Silva doesn't take the rematch, then Belfort deserves the next title shot. |
I usually just train Mon-Thu, but I think I might need that Sunday morning BJJ class and some work on the heavy bags to let out the frustration from Silva losing this fight.
|
Didn't Silva say after the fight talking to Joe Rogan he had 10 more fights left on his contract? Dana said that there would be no super fights now and there would be a Weidman-Silva rematch in the future during the post fight show.
|
Yeah Dana White made it seem like the rematch was happening next whether Silva wanted it or not.
|
I am glad Silva got KO'd after pulling that crap. He showed Weidman zero respect and was treating him like it was Stephan Bonnar in the ring with him. Weidman is proven he is dangerous and had a style that would give Silva problems even if he didn't drop his hands. But just like Weidman said everyone says it isn't smart to stand and exchange with Silva but when he was disrespecting him all he wanted to do was knock him out. If Silva was telling the truth about not wanting a rematch then something is very off and will be a mark on his legacy. Silva felt that Weidman wasn't proven and didn't want to give him the title fight but yet he loses to him. He needs to rematch and actually fight to solidify the passing of the torch so to speak if Weidman can do it again. I was pissed that Silva was doing all that clowning around. Others were saying its just what he does he is getting in Weidman's head. That is fine but sooner or later you will get caught with a capable fighter. He came out looking like Forrest Griffin (minus running out of the ring). If the guy didn't deserve to be in the ring with you then destroy him in quick fashion. Tyson didn't toy with anyone if you didn't deserve to be there you would be out on your back in under 3 seconds. All in all the KO of Silva made it worth the price of admission.

I look at all fights in the most simplest way. At the end of the day it goes on your record as win or lost. A loser is a loser no matter the details. So be it you cheated your self.
But I do think Anderson still wouldn't beat Chris in rematch. |
I think Silva is bored. We all know if he takes this fight seriously he wipes the floor with Weidman. He let himself get taken down the first time, then showed Weidman he could defend the take down if he wanted.
I initially thought Anderson would be pissed, embarrassed and would destroy Weidman in a rematch. After the post-fight interviews I think he's done and simply doesn't care anymore. We've seen him show boating before, but this was another level. He WANTED Weidman to knock him out. I think its a sad day for the UFC and we'll never really know how long he could have held the belt. Anyone here HONESTLY think Weidman is the better fighter? Didn't think so.. |
|
I didn't see the fight, in fact didn't know until about 7p that there was a UFC event. I've been so preoccupied with other things it seems.
But you're right, it does seem that Silva is bored. And who wouldn't be? No one's come close to ever doing anything against you when you actually try. You have to basically throw the match to make it even a competition. Might as well give up the belt and bow out. He's still the better fighter. |
If Silva were to come back in a rematch and destroy Weidman, do you guys think they'd put the superfights back on the table for him? Maybe if he destroys a couple other people first?
