Now that's just stupid. Also he beat Brian Stann and Michael Bisping to earn his 2nd shot at Silva. That and being the only one who came even close to besting Silva was enough to earn him that 2nd shot.

Vitor Belfort also talked his way into a shot against Jones and nearly beat him as well.

I must have missed those fights then, or they weren't televised. I don't recall Sonnen beating anyone.

And I don't think he was "close" to beating Silva. I think Silva was in control the whole time, letting Sonnen do as he please, then ended the fight at the snap of a finger w/the leg triangle.

But we'll never know for sure. Wasn't Sonnen supposed to retire after his second loss to Silva? Too bad he's all talk in every aspect.

Sonnen vs Stann was the co-main event for UFC on Fox 2. Sonnen vs Bisping was on UFC 136.

I wouldn't say he ended the fight right when he wanted to, he found an opening and capitalized on it. Sonnen was like 2 mins away from winning the decision which is pretty hard to deny. This is coming from an Anderson Silva fan boy too so it's not a biased opinion. Was definitely one of the best comebacks in UFC history.

Seriously? I guess he choosed to snap his finger close to the end of the fifth round.

It just seemed that way. Sonnen was the one bloodied. Silva looked like he was barely working out there.

It's unlikely that this was the case, but it's just hard to believe that someone could really take a "beating" for almost twenty-five minutes, then end the fight on his back like Silva did.

Either that or Sonnen punches like a bitch. :icon17: Would fit him well.

SPOHN 04-13-2013 04:46 PM

^ lol. I have to agree to a lot of that

Haboob 04-13-2013 04:53 PM

Maybe Sonnen can take Rogan's place - Rogan seems like he's going through a bit of roid-rage or something each broadcast. It's like, dude... you have a microphone. STOP YELLING INTO IT. :icon17:

Then he just makes random moves up, and that is hilarious.

It happens. Look at the GSP vs Shields fight. If you took a snapshot of each fighter at the end of the that fight and asked who won. GSP's face was messed up worse than Shields. Shields looked like he never stepped into the cage. I in no way endorse Shields. I hate him as much as GSP. Guess what......that fight went to decision. But don't worry Big Rig will have something for him after he gets through playing movie star.

I remember in some interview Silva said that he knew Sonnen left himself vulnerable to submissions at times and he was just waiting for the right opportunity. He left himself open towards the end and Silva capitalized on the opportunity. That's just how Anderson Silva is. One little slip against him and he can finish the fight - quite literally the case in their 2nd fight.

Eh, I don't know.

I didn't get to see the UFC event w/Rousey, so I can't comment on it much. I just don't see it taking off. There's not a big enough pool of women that want to fight like that... it's more of a macho thing for men, IMO.

Edit: Unless you're talking about more hot ring girls, then I'm in. :tup:x10.

Zingano vs Tate was a really good fight. Ronda Rousey is just a beast.

I'm a bit disappointed by Uriah's performance in the finale fight. He kinda wasted the whole first round trying to be like Anderson Silva and took some big shots. That last takedown at the end pretty much decided the fight for Kelvin.

These preliminaries are great tonight.

The Matt Brown fight was awesome.

Diaz got his a$$ handed to him.

Main event should be good, hopefully better than the heavyweight fight.
