Nice. But I feel most fighters always keep it standing now days. I miss the ground game. Very few fighters have that now. Usually when it goes to the ground they don't know what to do now.

Or you have the opposite. A guy who's excellent on the ground, but has no standup or wrestling skills. You really need to be a well rounded fighter to be truly great in MMA.

Well it looks like the young guys are taking over the UFC now. Penn was clearly outmatched in his fight. He's clearly too small for WW and needs to go back down to LW if he wants to continue his career, which he probably shouldn't. I'm surprised he didn't get finished in that one. Was it just me or was MacDonald coming off as a real dbag after that fight. He almost got KO'd at the end trying to be like Anderson Silva.

Shogun looked good against Gustaffson and I don't think it was quite as imbalanced as the scorecards made it look. He was aggressive and landed a lot of good shots. His strategy for the fight wasn't a good one though. All he was doing was trying to land that one good KO punch. I still think Shogun needs to go back to using his strong leg kicks, especially against tall rangy fighters like Gustaffson. His skinny legs wouldn't have held up much against a couple of those kicks.

Was happy to see Henderson dominate Diaz and give him the beating he deserves. Just wish he could have finished him.

I was hoping MacDonald would get KO'd after the BS he was pulling. He had Penn on the fence and could of easily picked him apart. Instead he kept talking to him. Then let him off the fence so he could dance around. I was glad to see Penn try for it even if he was outmatched. It would have been bittersweet becasue even if he could have pulled it off and got the win. He still needs to retire. It's done.

The Shogun vs Gustaffson match was good for the first couple rounds. Then the Shogun we all know showed up for the third round. Gassed and nothing left in the tank. I agree about where are those leg kicks.

It was clear Henderson size and gameplan was too much for Diaz. All he could hope for was a submission. Still sad to see how overmatched Diaz was and Henderson fail to end the fight.

Brown set the tone with his KO in the first fight on the main card.

The undercard had some exciting fights and the leg kick KO should of been Knockout of the Night. I guess Dana didn't watch each undercard fight before giving out the awards.

I didn't watch the undercard, just the main one. Which fight had the leg kick KO?

I don't see why Shogun abandoned the leg kicks. Look how well they worked against Machida in their first fight. They are arguably one of his best weapons too. It's so frustrating watching him like this fight after fight knowing what he is actually capable of.

speedfreek 12-10-2012 10:34 AM

It was by a guy named Cruickshank. It was nasty. He didn't have to finish with more punches or elbows. Out cold.

Shogun is almost done. He is hanging around like Wanderlai Silva did. He may win a few more fights before hanging them up, but he will never string them together to get in line for a title fight.

b1adesofcha0s 12-10-2012 10:37 AM

I don't think he's quite at that point yet. If he could get his cardio up to speed, he'd be ok, but that might be asking too much considering his age and condition.

b1adesofcha0s 12-10-2012 10:38 AM

I'm just wondering what's gonna happen with Anderson Silva next. GSP is gonna fight Diaz. Jones is fighting Sonnen. Weidman is injured. He'll probably just take off and fight at the end of 2013 like he was planning this whole time. Or maybe he can take on the Bisping vs Belfort winner?

SPOHN 12-10-2012 11:13 AM

I'm now ready for CV vs JDS. These two guys are a toss up for sure. But I'm picking Cain. He's not going to trade to many punches (even though he has KO abilities also) but get it on the the ground and I know it would be over then. JDS also has no stamina so if it goes to the second round that will hurt him too.

b1adesofcha0s 12-10-2012 11:24 AM

I'm still going with JDS and can't wait for this fight either. Looks like JDS just recently earned his BJJ black belt so he has been working on his ground game for sure. We haven't really seen much of it with the way he has been dominating with his boxing.

When's Overeem coming back?

b1adesofcha0s 12-10-2012 11:36 AM

I think he already has a fight scheduled IIRC. BRB gonna go check into it.

b1adesofcha0s 12-10-2012 11:37 AM

Yup he's fighting bigfoot Silva at UFC 156.

XiP 12-10-2012 11:40 AM

Nice, if he wins I'd really like to see him vs JDS or Cain

b1adesofcha0s 12-10-2012 11:45 AM

Yeah as long as he keeps off the roids. :ugh2:
