my guess is since matt brown is out of the condit fight you will see a hendricks condit rematch to fill the empty slot...lets see

It was Hendricks belt anyway. I wouldn't want to get back in the octagon again after taking that kind of beating either.

It's not Hendricks' title. He and Lawler fight in March for it:

Citing undisclosed personal issues, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre announced Friday afternoon that he will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the sport of mixed martial arts and vacating his title, effective immediately.

The news comes less than a month after St-Pierre’s grueling split decision win over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in Las Vegas. The win marked GSP’s ninth successful title defense.

On the media teleconference with St-Pierre, UFC President Dana White announced that Hendricks and Robbie Lawler will fight for the vacant 170-pound title on March 15, 2014, in Dallas, Texas.

Stay tuned for more details, including comments from St-Pierre and White.

Better to go out on top and healthy than getting KO'd and brain damage. Glad Hendricks gets another shot at the title that he should have won against GSP.

Can't wait for UFC 168. It will be the first UFC that I will be seeing live. I think all the money I spent on those tickets will be worth it as long as Silva wins. Don't care how he does it, just needs to get the title back. :excited:

SPOHN 12-21-2013 03:52 PM

I hope Rhonda loses. Her attitude sucks. I like an aggressive woman but damn she's a super bitch.

Same. I respect her skills as an athlete for sure, but after watching the last season of TUF I'm definitely rooting for Tate.

They're pretty fun live. Even the prelims when no one is there, they can be pretty exciting and you get to hear more without a noisy crowd.

After watching the Patriots dominate yesterday, I would love to see Silva dominate Weidman on Saturday. Would make this epic week so much better.

XiP 12-27-2013 07:59 AM

Does anybody think Weidman has a chance? All I see is Silva via KO or TKO

Depends on how much Silva decides to clown around.

travisjb 12-27-2013 01:02 PM

Definitely an underdog - he'll need to get lucky and stun him (again)... Anderson looks like he's been training hard. I hope it's a least a good fight. Unfortunately, I could see both of these ending quickly. Would like to see Tate win too, but seems unlikely...

How's the rest of the card look to you guys?

Interesting end to Weidmen Sylvia fight. That baby broke.

travisjb 12-28-2013 11:27 PM

don't need to see that one again! lol

That shit made me hurt.

travisjb 12-28-2013 11:40 PM

hate to look at it, but i did anyways... lol

so, what I'm seeing is that the fracture occurred well below the point of impact. in other words, instead of splitting in half at his shin where it struck weidman's body, it broke ~6 inches lower down where the sheer force of instantly stopping his leg and the weight of his foot caused the snap. seeing his foot wrap around like rubber is just nasty.

So, predictions on weidman vs belfort?

frost 12-28-2013 11:41 PM

AHhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :vomit:

SPOHN 12-28-2013 11:44 PM

Belfort

Spent a lot of money to come see the fight live and it just sucks to have it end like that. At least the rest of the card was good. I just hope this isn't the end of Silva's career.

I think Vitor will KO Weidman.

EZT 12-29-2013 12:18 AM

I feel ripped off again. Having the fight end like that does not satiate my belief that Silva can best Weidman.

travisjb 12-29-2013 12:20 AM

you'll have to be satisfied knowing he was a heavy favorite to win 'cause we're not going to see him for another year and he'll be almost 42 by then

exsanity 12-29-2013 12:21 AM

Weidman = luckiest guy in UFC. Silva's career is over for a few years at least.

Haboob 12-29-2013 12:27 AM

Silva probably would have won. Weidman had his chance in the first and didn't capitalize.

Then the freak leg break occurred.

Silvia's career is over. Sucks, but it is.

At 38, the physical toll and then the even worse psychological toll will be too much to overcome.

Still the greatest fighter ever.

He should not have clowned around in the previous match. :shakes head:

b1adesofcha0s 12-29-2013 01:56 AM

Well hopefully he can get some of the stem cell treatment that Peyton Manning got and make a comeback some day. Would like to see him get one more shot at the title.

speedfreek 12-29-2013 12:14 PM

Well Weidman got the best of him in the first round. Who knows how it would of played out 4 more rounds if the unfortunate didn't happen. I agree he shouldn't of clowned in the previous match. He came out much more focused this fight but Weidman was still getting the better of him in the stand up and on the ground. I believe Silva will retire.

MJB 12-29-2013 01:04 PM

That kind of break is going to be at least a year long recovery. Anderson is 38, will be 39 in April... So if he does make a comeback he'll be 40+... he won't be the same. I would say to just retire. UFC isn't going to be the same without him and GSP.
