Great night of fighting.

Overeem is over.

Congrats to Chael

speedfreek 08-17-2013 09:43 PM

Awesome KO by Browne on The Reem. Must of trained with Steven Seagal.

Sonnen by guillotine choke! Good night of fights.

Expected more from Hall though.

SPOHN 08-17-2013 09:52 PM

Matt Brown got KO pretty damn quick.

Was definitely a great night of fights. Unexpected and impressive finishes in the 2 main event fights. I was also disappointed by Uriah Hall's performance. It's good to see he has improved his wrestling, but he also needs to use his striking which is what makes him so good.

ZBro16 08-19-2013 08:45 AM

Hall is tremendously talented, but he has zero killer instinct. I don't see him lasting long in the UFC.

Overeem has one fight left at the most in the UFC. I won't be surprised if he gets cut this week. If he gets one more fight, he had better win in a devastating fashion. I knew he was going down as soon as he didn't finish Browne in that flurry on the mat. He threw an elbow in slow motion after they were both on their feet and I knew the fight was over. Very disappointing for me, but sadly, not expected.

Sonnen surprised me with the submission. Very well done. Would love a Wanderlei fight.

SPOHN 08-19-2013 08:57 AM

Hall was just a better fighter than everyone on the UF show. But can't hang with the real UFC fighters.

I don't think it is that he can't hang with them. He has all the talent. I don't know if the coaches are giving him the right instructions during the fight or its him making the wrong decisions on the pace of the fight. My opinion of his last fight is that he didn't push the pace and attack as much as he needed to. Although his karate background may be limiting him in that regard.

Well this could be interesting, Vitor vs Hendo in Brazil. I'll have to go with Vitor since he will have home field advantage.

I can see it now... UFC: Clash of the TRTans!

Hendo via Nuclear H-Bomb of America.

(sadly... the Hendo fan in me knows that Vitor has this if it gets out of the first round.)

XiP 09-04-2013 08:30 PM

chael v. rashad

thoughts?

SPOHN 09-04-2013 08:43 PM

Rashad is a chicken a$$ run away from everything fighter. He runs backwards hoping for a lucky punch to land. If that does happen its a chicken run. I'd pull for Chael for the take down and beat down.

Haboob 09-04-2013 09:31 PM

Saw Bader get rocked.

That sucks. Don't like to see the Arizona boys go down, except for that faggot Velasquez.

b1adesofcha0s 09-04-2013 09:53 PM

Souza and Teixera were very impressive tonight. I think both would be good to get a title shot in their next fight.

Wouldn't mind a Sonnen vs Evans fight. If Evans wants to keep running that's fine because we know Sonnen will bring the fight to him.

Yea he got careless. He thought he smelled blood and had Glover stunned. He just started throwing without keeping his hands up......then the 1,2 and down he goes.

Is it November yet? Already one belt going back to its rightful owner with Pettis taking back what was his. Now just need Big Rig to KO GSP. :stirthepot:

b1adesofcha0s 09-04-2013 11:14 PM

It's official, Teixeira gets the next title shot.

Haboob 09-05-2013 10:31 AM

He just seems so much bigger than Jon Jones...

However, I think Jones will win it, with ease.

travisjb 09-05-2013 06:37 PM

Hey do you think JJ's broken toe will have any lasting impact? I have a big toe that never really recovered from that sort of thing and lost some spring... was it his back foot or front?

b1adesofcha0s 09-05-2013 08:30 PM

I don't think we'll really know until we see him fight again.

MC 09-05-2013 10:55 PM

overeem vs mir added to UFC 167!!

battle for the bottom of the heavyweight barrel loser is banished from UFC forever lol

I got mir by desperation arm snap

travisjb 09-06-2013 06:02 PM

I'll take Mir by Overeem self-destruct

SPOHN 09-06-2013 06:19 PM

167 is a pretty damn good stacked card

Yeah it is. I'm hoping they have other good fights on 168 since I'm planning on going to that one.

MC 09-11-2013 08:29 PM

BJ Penn V Edgar 3 at 145lbs for TUF 19

thats a weird pick.. does anyone really want to see that fight again?

b1adesofcha0s 09-11-2013 09:25 PM

Yeah that is random, but probably not many people BJ would make a comeback for. They usually don't do trilogies when one fighter wins the first 2 match ups.

MC 09-12-2013 03:57 AM

its gonna go like this BJ is gonna almost die making 145 and frankie is gonna run circles around him worse than before

I would have rather have seen the rumored edgar faber but now faber is fighting michael mcdonald next probably which is a tough *** fight for him

MC 09-20-2013 01:38 PM

anyone else sort of lukewarm on the PPV this weekend? you got two title fights but im just not hyped for either and the rest of the card is weak

I think jones should easily win with a takedown and then doing what he usually does from the top

thoughts?

Nope with football in full effect it has to be a damn good card to get my attention. And Alabama is playing a weak team this weekend but I do not have any solid plans of making it to the local BWW or bar to watch them live. I do not see Jones having any issue with the Swede. The PPV I am waiting on is GSP vs Hendricks. I will be buying that one. Gotta support Big Rig knocking GSP out. One can hope anyway.

SPOHN 09-20-2013 06:41 PM

It's not great but I'll still be watching it. Sometimes these end up being the best.

b1adesofcha0s 09-21-2013 01:23 AM

I do think Jones will come out with the win, but it should be an interesting fight I think. UFC 167 is gonna be awesome and I kind of wish I was going to see that in person instead of 168. I will be happy as long as Silva beats (hopefully destroys) Weidman. Rousey vs Tate could be good too.

travisjb 09-21-2013 09:13 PM

porque solo puedo mirar in espanol? ufc.tv es muy malo

never mind, works now

worth every penny... best title fight I can remember

SPOHN 09-21-2013 11:48 PM

I don't know what to say. The fight was pretty even but seems Gust landed more strikes. Especially in the first three rounds. Both had good strikes but they needed to throw more combinations. Jones won the fourth round for sure. But if you can't finish the belt is always staying where is was.

travisjb 09-21-2013 11:56 PM

yeah, i don't think gust came anywhere near KO... but the fact that he scored well in the early rounds really put the pressure on for jones to try and finish which made the last two rounds amazing... granite chin on gust!

MC 09-22-2013 12:11 AM

wow great two title fights

I had jones winning the last 2 rounds and I had gust winning the 1st.. the fight was decided in the 2nd and 3rd and I think although close jones edged it so I agreed with the decision

I feel bad for cruz coming off a 2 year lay off to have to fight barao right off the bat..yikes

Nailzs 09-22-2013 07:03 AM

Jones was looking past Gustafsson talking about the fight with Teixeria like the fight with Gustafsson was no big deal and for that almost got his a$$ handed to him.
Dana White says there may be a Jones-Gustafsson II match before Jones meets Teixeria.

b1adesofcha0s 09-22-2013 12:55 PM

That was one of the best fights I've ever seen and I would love to see the rematch between Jones and Gustaffson.
