Jon Jones needs to bulk up and fight in Heavy Weight. He'll give the big guys a run for their money!

BTW, Shogun vs Henderson was fvcking epic! I think it should have been s 47-47 draw and I would love to see a rematch. |

Jones vs. Anderson Silva is the fight I really want to see. That would be way better than Silva vs. GSP. The Shogun vs. Henderson fight was epic! Even my wife was saying that it would be 47-47 before the final decision. Oh well, like they say... Don't leave it in the hands of the judges. I'm really looking onward to seeing Jones fight Dec 10th! I have a couple of extra tickets if you want to come. lol |

Can't wait to see the Jones vs Machida fight this weekend. I think Jones is going to destroy Machida. What do you guys think?
|

I think this will be a good test for Jones, but he'll still walk through Machida. The other fight I'm really looking forward to is Hominick vs. Sung Jung That should be a wicked fight. I'm disappointed that Rory MacDonald vs. Ebersole isn't happening, both of those guys are on a good winning streak... |

So yeah, Jon Jones still seems to be unstoppable. :p

That was a good night of fights. I'm still drying out from all of the partying. Got a crap ton of photos, even one of my wife and the champ after his victory.
|
I enjoy watching him. thats what matters. Entertainment=viewers=revenue=UFC ain't going nowhere.

Can't wait to finally see that fight..........and to see Jones KO Evans :D |

Jon Jones is on another level. Evans doesn't stand a chance.

Of course it's one thing for me to say all of these things are possible and another for someone to actually be able to execute them. One thing is for sure, any fight with Jon Jones is going to be an exciting one. |
yeah after evans there really isnt a big threat for him waiting inline.. it looks like hendo is next and of course he has that one shot power but i think if the fight went more than a round jones would pick him apart and break him.... i would love to see that fight but at the same time i dont want to see it has dan has been on such a role it could get ugly for him...
besides the obvious silva matchup (which i think jones would get taken out with furious vengence) a sort of out of the box match up i think would work is have belfort go back to 205 to fight him... but yeah beyond that 205 is sort of slimming out as a stacked division vs what it was a few years back... jones could have the belt a while by looking at the current 205 roster.. |

i got back from UFC in ATL about 5pm today ( 5hr drive)
was a awesome event we had great seats and i saw a lot of fighters at the hotel... i was in the elevator with daniel cormier and luke rockhold from strikeforce.... then my GF and i went to the UFC tailgate party outside the hotel and there was this huge line with like 200 people in it waiting to get in this mobile UFC display truck... my GF wanted to go in as there was a frame with GSPs shorts in it ( yea she loves him) so we accidentally walked past the line and this guy asked us if we were sent over and i said yes... we were taken inside and it turned out that line was a autograph line for forrest griffin so we felt real bad that people has been waiting for hours... but yeah we met him and got pics and all that ...was pretty cool then at the event we saw brian stann anthony pettis clay guida chael sonnen and a few others.. was a great time and really solid card the first 2 rounds of the jones evan fight was really good i mean being there it might have appeared closer than it was the crowd was crazy..but yeah by round 4 the momentum really turned and everyone in the crowd sorta just knew where it was going the way jones was throwing those elbows like punches was crazy... i think he is gonna have to go to heavyweight or something... in person he looked 2 weight classed bigger than evans they announced after the fight hendo is next....but i think his only chance is to fight him really tight and pressure him enough to land one of his hbombs.... the longer that fight goes i think it will get ugly and hendo will be a slow target..... so yeah he needs to say **** it and come out swinging just like the fedor fight and see what happens |
Evans looked lost. He only attempted 2-3 takedowns, and much like the Machida fight, he simply isn't a good enough striker to stand and trade with a guy like Jones. He had to take the fight to the mat, but he didn't. Just stood there and took his whoopin'.
But the guy who really got served was Brendan Schaub. Guess who's got a glass jaw? |
Jones will definitely be going to HW, but only after he cleans out the LHW division. I didn't think Hendo really stood a chance with Jones, but after seeing Evans go all 5 rounds without Jones being able to stop him, tells me Hendo does have a chance. Hendo has great wrestling and the famous H-bomb...
More impressive than Jones on Saturday night was Rory Macdonald. He's a beast at 170. Anyone pumped to see JDS vs. Mir? I'm not thrilled, was looking forward to JDS vs. Overeem, too bad he pissed hot... Fool. :shakes head: |
Sounds like a lot of fun MC. I still think Jones is unstoppable at LHW and also agree that Evans needed to take him down if he had any chance of winning. He had a few takedown attempts but they were pretty weak. Henderson's only chance is to take Jones down and try to ground and pound him for a win. Jones' reach advantage is going to be even worse for Henderson.
I don't think Jones will dominate the HW division like he is doing with LHW. There are much bigger guys there who will probably do a lot better job of taking him down and keeping him there. The HW guys will hit a lot harder too. Might just be me, but I don't see Jones beating someone like JDS, Frank Mir, Cain Velasquez, or Shane Carwin unless he catches them with a good shot. He would have to put on some serious weight to be able to compete effectively against the elite HW's. I would like to see him fight Anderson Silva though at LHW. |
I personally think taking Jones to the ground is a mistake, especially with his long limbs. Hendo has already said that he needs to stay close, in the clinch and avoid the elbows. I dont think Hendo would beat Jones, but anyone has a punchers chance.
As far as Jones moving to HW, he's not that far off. He's still growing, and he already walks around at 230lbs. JDS and Cain are right around that weight ~230-240, and Cain beat Lesnar who weighs ~280 on fight day. Plus I think Jones cardio is better than anyone else in HW. Time will tell. My ideal super fight before Jones moves up to HW would be Jones vs. Silva. |
Gaining weight doesn't always work out perfectly. Look at what happened to GSP when he tried to gain a bit of weight for his last fight. He was definitely not as good as he usually is. He will lose some speed from bucking up, but will still have a speed advantage over other HW's.

yeah bad situation all around...but no JDS and MIR wont end well for MIR... the 2 fights he got destroyed by lesnar and carwin he didnt respect them and put himself in positions where he was taking damage in order to impose his will .. JDS striking is on a whole different level... i mean before he broke nogueiras arm he was almost KOed by him so yeah its gonna be ugly |
Yeah, but from the UFC's standpoint there really wasn't anyone better to put in there. They could have done a rematch with Velasquez I guess, but he did just get KO'ed by JDS in like a minute.
|
Quote:
yeah there really wasnt anyone.... i mean hendo said he would have taken it but i didnt see that happening... and mark hunt was like the only other available person and he in a way is due for a shot at something being the ultimate journeyman but that wouldnt sell PPV...MIR is a big enough name and has racked up enough wins to deserve another go..... i do a agree that a part of me thinks cain would be a better match up... that fight was a bit of a fluke.. i mean im not saying cain would have won but he had nerves and then an injury where he couldnt shoot and then JDS hit him with that shot to unbalance him so fast it was just like a perfect storm of bad things that led to such a dissapointing fight... but he should make quick work of bigfoot and be back on his way up |
