Here's some of my UFC pics from the Toronto Fan Expo, UFC 129, UFC 140, and a few of the parties. Check them out if you're interested. We have the same stuff set up for UFC 152. Honestly the parties and hanging out at the hotel are better than the fight itself.

Still can't believe Sonnen punked out Jones like that. He even offered to give Jones his entire purse for the fight. Never before have I wanted to see Jon Jones lose so badly.

I know. Jones, who has had a full training camp turns down a fight against an out of shape 185'er. He should have taken the fight and at the very least asked for it to be a non-title fight. The fans would have been happy, he wouldn't have pissed off all the fighters on the under card, and Dana White could go buy another Ferrari.

So looks like this whole crazy situation just got MUCH crazier.....

Machida turned down the fight against Jones on September 22nd. Apparently even Anderson Silva called in and tried to save UFC 151 by offering to take a fight at LHW since he might not be able to cut down to MW. It wouldn't have been against Jones (who probably would have turned it down), but against another LHW. This is how a champion should act facing this situation. It was a little too late though apparently and the show is still cancelled. I know they have been moving some of the undercard fights to UFC on FX 5 in October.

Now Vitor Belfort has stepped up to fight Jones at 205 for the title on September 22nd. I love this move actually. It's a fresh face against Jones and someone who is not afraid to take the fight to him. I'll have to go back and watch some of Belfort's recent fights to see what kind of condition he's in. Wonder how his speed will be compared to Jones? Jones is probably faster, but Belfort's hands can be quick and vicious if he can get inside.

I think Gustafsson should have been given the fight before Belfort... Oh well. Belfort doesn't stand a chance, he gasses too easily.

So, are the people at the UFC too busy counting money to know what is actually going in in their own promotion. Too many rookie PR mistakes with this.

It's possible that Gustafsson turned down the fight since they mentioned a lot of people did. Belfort might gas early, but he definitely brings the fight in the beginning. Jones chin hasn't been tested much before, but maybe it will be now. I just really want to see him get his azz beat now. I actually like Belfort though.

Can't believe they cancelled.

wow machida dropped out of the fight now its vitor belfort? i would have thought they would have gone back to sonnen due to the hype from yesterday

but yeah vitor is atleast a fresh fight.. vitor still has the power so who knows

Srenity 08-25-2012 09:47 AM

This whole thing is one big mess. I think this could in the long run be a very bad business move from Bones & Greg Jackson. Dana already was not a big fan of Jackson and this is just going to make him even less of a fan. Dana can be vendictive. I would not be suprised if Dana makes it harder for upcoming lower level fighter out of the Jackson camp to get into the UFC and current Jackson fighters could get cut without as many chances some one in good graces would. Ultimelty it can detract from new fighters selecting his gym over others.

I don't know if it will go that far, but things will get harder for Jones specifically. He's getting no favors from Dana White

Probably true but Dana does have a hard time taking his emotions and personal feelings out of his decision making process. If there are two up and comers looking for a spot on an undercard I could see him picking the fighter with a camp that he has a better relationship with.
