However, Silva seems to have change and makes his fights entertaining, even if he's 20x better than his opponent. Though, I'm a Silva fan, because everyone else seems to hate him. :p  I cannot wait to see Bones Jones (probably my true fav.) destroy Sonnen. Sonnen is one of the few people I cannot stand... sure, he can talk and is sometimes funny, but the fact that he's talked himself into three title fights w/o ever winning seemingly anything is ridiculous and undeserved. What would be amazing is if Jones shattered his jaw and it was wired shut for a long, loooong time. |

Oh yeah, Dana White pisses me off for allowing this circus show to go on, but if Sonnen wants to act that way he should go join Lesnar in the WWE, because he clearly can't fight in the UFC.
|
Out of Silva's 16 fight UFC win streak, only 2 ever went to decision and those were the ones he was criticized for. He was kind of dancing around and not really engaging while his opponents were completely hopeless. I am a huge Silva fanboy no matter what anyone else says.
used to hate Sonnen too, until I found out how he actually is. Now I really like him. As much as people say he talked his way to the title shot, don't forget that NO ONE stepped up to fight Jones when Henderson first got injured. Not a single fighter said yes to that fight against Jones, who was too scared himself to fight Sonnen at the time. |

A fight? Sure, but not the title should he win - he's done nothing else to earn his way to that point. Same with the second fight vs. Silva. |
Now that's just stupid. Also he beat Brian Stann and Michael Bisping to earn his 2nd shot at Silva. That and being the only one who came even close to besting Silva was enough to earn him that 2nd shot.
Vitor Belfort also talked his way into a shot against Jones and nearly beat him as well. |

And I don't think he was "close" to beating Silva. I think Silva was in control the whole time, letting Sonnen do as he please, then ended the fight at the snap of a finger w/the leg triangle. But we'll never know for sure. Wasn't Sonnen supposed to retire after his second loss to Silva? Too bad he's all talk in every aspect. |

I wouldn't say he ended the fight right when he wanted to, he found an opening and capitalized on it. Sonnen was like 2 mins away from winning the decision which is pretty hard to deny. This is coming from an Anderson Silva fan boy too so it's not a biased opinion. Was definitely one of the best comebacks in UFC history. |

It's unlikely that this was the case, but it's just hard to believe that someone could really take a "beating" for almost twenty-five minutes, then end the fight on his back like Silva did. Either that or Sonnen punches like a bitch. :icon17: Would fit him well. |
^ lol. I have to agree to a lot of that
|
Maybe Sonnen can take Rogan's place - Rogan seems like he's going through a bit of roid-rage or something each broadcast. It's like, dude... you have a microphone. STOP YELLING INTO IT. :icon17:
Then he just makes random moves up, and that is hilarious. |
It happens. Look at the GSP vs Shields fight. If you took a snapshot of each fighter at the end of the that fight and asked who won. GSP's face was messed up worse than Shields. Shields looked like he never stepped into the cage. I in no way endorse Shields. I hate him as much as GSP. Guess what......that fight went to decision. But don't worry Big Rig will have something for him after he gets through playing movie star.
|
I remember in some interview Silva said that he knew Sonnen left himself vulnerable to submissions at times and he was just waiting for the right opportunity. He left himself open towards the end and Silva capitalized on the opportunity. That's just how Anderson Silva is. One little slip against him and he can finish the fight - quite literally the case in their 2nd fight.

Women in the UFC is the next best thing. Great stuff!

I didn't get to see the UFC event w/Rousey, so I can't comment on it much. I just don't see it taking off. There's not a big enough pool of women that want to fight like that... it's more of a macho thing for men, IMO. Edit: Unless you're talking about more hot ring girls, then I'm in. :tup:x10. |
Zingano vs Tate was a really good fight. Ronda Rousey is just a beast.
I'm a bit disappointed by Uriah's performance in the finale fight. He kinda wasted the whole first round trying to be like Anderson Silva and took some big shots. That last takedown at the end pretty much decided the fight for Kelvin. |
These preliminaries are great tonight.
|
The Matt Brown fight was awesome.
Diaz got his a$$ handed to him. |
Main event should be good, hopefully better than the heavyweight fight.
|
That was a great fight between Henderson and Melendez. That was a razor thin decision and I could have seen it going either way. Wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.
|
As good as it was. All the other fights were better. Hell of a fight night.
|
I've only seen the 2 main fights so far. Still need to go back and watch the rest of them.
|
Very good card.
|
just planned my trip for UFC 162 wooot!!
|
So, I set my DVR to record the fights last night and apparently the cable company didn't set the times right... it ended with a minute and a half left in the second round. :shakes head:
So disappointing. Was so happy to see Diaz get rocked though. I cannot stand either Diaz brother. |
Man that sucks :(
|
Jon Jones says he wants to surpass Tito Ortiz's record for most LHW title defenses and then look towards superfights and moving up to HW. Beating Sonnen on Saturday would tie him with the record and another win would give him the new record.

I just don't see JJ in HW. He would get his a$$ handed to him. Period. JJ fighting Cain, Jr, Bigfoot, and so on. No way
|
I think if he puts on enough muscle, he could do well there. He would have the advantage in speed/athleticism.
|
In due time I assume. I wonder what weight JJ walks around at?

he actually talked about that on the countdown show tonight..he was talking about how people say he is so much bigger than chael he said its just because he was taller.. He said during TUF coaching he was 225 and chael was about 235 and he felt like the smaller man next to him at times..
