I agree with all those picks, except I think Maia might just edge out Fitch.

XiP 02-01-2013 10:13 AM

Gonna be a good weekend!!! UFC on Sat and Superbowl on Sun :happydance:

MC 02-03-2013 12:02 AM

i know i know ... you guys dont even say anything to me :(

XiP 02-03-2013 08:28 AM

all that overeem hype down the drain :(

SPOHN 02-03-2013 09:47 AM

^ yep as I thought it would

b1adesofcha0s 02-04-2013 02:51 AM

That's what Overeem gets for being an overconfident douche. He could have easily won that fight if he had respected his opponents. Who does he think he is, Anderson Silva? :icon17:

This completely scrambles up the title picture at HW. Overeem is out as a potential match up and Silva's last fight was a complete beatdown by Velasquez. Mir and Cormier are already scheduled to fight, but maybe the winner of that one will get the next shot. Werdum and Carwin are the only other possibilities I can think of.

Evans was a huge disappointment against Little Nog. I was excited to see him maybe drop down and take on Silva, but he would get killed fighting like this. Looks like it will end up being Silva vs Weidman at MW.

No surprise with Aldo winning, though I was hoping he would finish Edgar.

Sibze 02-04-2013 07:38 AM

I think the Aldo fight was very close. I think he was lucky he pulled out the win. If he had not done so much visible damage, it could have been a different ending

Agreed. I had it Aldo 48-47 and I have no clue how those 2 judges scored it 49-46. I think he should have stuck with the leg kicks. He mentioned that Edgar was telegraphing them after a while and going for a takedown, but he could have gone after the other leg too instead of just the same one each time.

speedfreek 02-04-2013 09:44 AM

Seeing Overeem get KO'd was awesome. I didn't think Silva would outstrike him standing up but he proved a point to Reem to quit talking so much crap about him and actually fight.

I do not know what Evans was trying to do in this fight. He reminded me of Rampage instead of working and going to what you do best....which is wrestle. But he wanted to stand and bang with Little Nog? I guess his KO from Lyoto taught him nothing.

I really wished Aldo finished Edgar. I was getting worried he was letting him hang around and even though his face was destroyed he doesn't ever quit. He was tearing Edgar up with those brutal leg kicks in the first couple rounds. Pettis will be an exciting matchup vs Aldo.

Finally Dana needs to give Weidman his shot.

b1adesofcha0s 02-04-2013 09:51 AM

Fvck Weidman, he hasn't earned sh1t. Vitor deserves another shot before Weidman IMO.

speedfreek 02-04-2013 10:01 AM

I agree Belfort deserves another shot. I don't think it will go down the same way. But until Dana changes his tune on it it isn't going to happen anytime soon.

But in the division Weidman is the best prospect although I would like to see him fight at least one more fight before getting in the Thunderdome with Silva. Especially after coming off a surgery. I say throw Weidman in there with Belfort for a #1 contenders match. Sink or swim.

b1adesofcha0s 02-04-2013 10:05 AM

Agreed, I want to see Belfort vs Weidman. No one has a better shot to beat Silva than Belfort. He just got caught with a perfect kick in the first fight. I think we could possibly see Belfort vs Sonnen in the future though.

GaleForce 02-04-2013 12:21 PM

I thought it was funny to see Fitch get "Fitched" by Maia.

b1adesofcha0s 02-04-2013 12:22 PM

Looks like Pettis might be dropping down to 145 to take on Aldo.

You see the superman punch off the cage by Aldo? Maybe that's what got Pettis interested :icon17:

Yeah, those two guys are nuts. To be able to think of pulling something like that off while in a fight... crazy! Pettis proved it wasn't a fluke either when he did the knee off the cage against Cerrone.

Yeah that was really unexpected.

b1adesofcha0s 02-04-2013 02:37 PM

One thing I didn't get was why Aldo kept going for the flying knee in the later rounds when he was tired. Wasn't working at all and he just kept wasting more energy. Would have been better off throwing kicks to the head.

:iagree: Just throwing kicks in general. He shouldn't have stopped throwing kicks.

speedfreek 02-05-2013 11:35 AM

He said Edgar started checking the kicks better and was trying to shoot everytime he threw them after the opening round. But agreed, I can see throwing less of them not to telegraph them but to move completely away almost cost him. I was worried in the 3rd when Frankie was still moving around. He just doesn't go away. I was hoping Aldo would KO him.

Interesting to see if Edgar drops to fight possibly Faber and get a shot at Cruz or if he sticks it out at Featherwieght. Personally I think he should stick it out in FW. He loses all his advantage if he moves down. He will be the bigger guy but no longer faster than his opponent. Even at FW he isnt the fastest. Plus if he keeps dropping weight classes and losing he will find himself next to the master of that himself and sitting next to Kenny Florian on UFC Tonight!

I think part of the problem was he kept throwing the same kick to the same leg, which made it easier to telegraph. If he mixed it up I think he might have had better results.

I'm not sure what Edgar should do. I don't see him (or anyone else) beating Aldo at 145. If Aldo moves up though, he would do well at 145. Edgar vs Faber could also be good to find a potential #1 contender to fight the winner of Cruz vs Barao.

speedfreek 02-05-2013 02:40 PM

Pettis vs Aldo is happening on Aug. 3 just announced hours ago by Dana White. Location is yet to be determined. This fight is going to be awesome! I hope they stack this card.

That was definitely up there with the all time best knockouts in UFC history.

speedfreek 02-06-2013 01:47 PM

Hadouken! Uriah Hall over there doing Street Fighter celebrations.

What makes it so bad is he only had about 6 seconds left to escape the round. Instead he woke up in an ambulance. He didn't listen at the start of the match when the ref says, "Protect yourself at all times!"

Instead he was like Nick Diaz, "We are throwing spinning **** now?" :icon14:

Cella, you sir :gtfo2:

b1adesofcha0s 02-06-2013 02:12 PM

I like Cella's chances of being back as the wild card pick.

So the real question is when is Velasquez vs Dos Santos 3? :icon17:

Winter of 2013. After Cain beats down Bigfoot. And Dos Santos knocks out Overeem.

yeah gotta agree. no argument from me...ive abandoned the overeem ship and even if he somehow won i would think he would need to beat 1-2 of the winner of hunt/struve nelson/congo or cormier/mir to get back to the top.

I just cant see bigfoot getting this shot though he had a shocking win for sure but i mean cain beat him about as bad as he would beat me and im like 140 lbs. i cant get the picture of cains lower body soaked in his blood out of my head when i read he gets a rematch for the belt.. i would have maybe cain in a few months off the let the contender picture become a bit more clear.

:iagree: Cain is not stupid like Overeem. Won't keep his hands down like that.

b1adesofcha0s 02-13-2013 06:50 PM

Looks like Luke Rockhold will be facing Vitor Belfort in his UFC debut. This smells like a #1 contender's fight to me, though it was not mentioned as one.

speedfreek 02-13-2013 08:42 PM

Dana will make it one only if Rockhold wins. If Belfort wins he will say he is not ready to fight Silva again because of how the other fight ended so quickly which is BS. He got caught. Hell they gave Bigfoot the Cain fight again and he got destroyed the first time.

b1adesofcha0s 02-13-2013 09:24 PM

I've been saying for the longest time he deserves anotber shot at Silva. Though I felt a Sonnen vs Belfort match up was gonna be next for him.

MC 02-13-2013 11:00 PM

saw this and it summed up my feelings on the fight

Learning how to "roll with the punches"

Why do some guys like Anderson not get KTFO'd? Because they relax and go with the flow
