Those were some beautiful shots on the 17th. I was happy to see him win too, although I want to see Westwood win a major at some point too.

Can't believe I missed this thread upon revival! I love golf. I've always loved golf. About 8 years ago, I had 2 sets of clubs stolen out of my apartment storage. I had a drought after that because I wasn't willing to throw down for new equipment. I finally received a decent set of Cleveland irons (4-PW) for Christmas from my grandparents and my wife bought me an awesome University of Texas golf bag. I picked up a $25 Wilson 5 wood that I can blast ~250 yards without effort, a $50 550cc Green Monster driver from Golfsmith that works fine for my casual purposes, and a $15 68 degree wedge.

I average probably 2-3 rounds per year, so I'm way behind where I want to be. But after ~5 years without playing at all, I am making the best of it. My typical round these days is mid-90s with a birdie or two, a couple of unmentionables, some very nice shots, some terrible 3 putts, and 6-8 beers. I haven't broken 90 since before the drought, and I haven't broken 85 since high school. But I still have a blast every time I play.

I'm hoping to play Newport Dunes (an Arnold Palmer course) in Port Aransas, TX in August when I'm at the beach for vacation. And I also hope to play Laurel Hill in Lorton, VA during a business trip to Fort Belvoir in September.

same here.

speaking of which im at a crossroads on whether to go golf sunday or do a charity car show......car show requires a $20 and from what i can tell will be a lot of ricers.

golf will be around $50, no people, and alcohol. also i've been playing well so that makes it more enjoyable.

i think golf wins lol

I'm with you there. Bogey after GIR is not an uncommon occurrence during my rounds

I have to get out soon or I'm going to explode. Been working at a litigation firm all summer so haven't been out nearly as much as I'd like. Going to have the last few weeks off before school starts again so I'm going to power golf (i.e. every day lol)

get to it man. i'm just pleased my friend left his head pro position at a public course (due to poor ownership/management) and took a assistant pro position at a really awesome and very private country club.....that i am golfing for free on sunday

best perk of knowing a golf pro is free golf lol

That's where the booze comes in handy

The last round I played a few months ago, there was a Par 5 where I started with a nice, straight drive and then rolled a beautiful 4 iron up to the front edge of the green about 25 ft from the pin under GIR (not a terribly difficult two putt). I guess I was still a bit amped from the great second shot and blasted the uphill putt over 10 ft past the hole. Coming back downhill was another terrible putt 8 ft back below the hole. My putt for par then ended up perched on the lip and did not fall until I gave it the final tap in for a bogey. When I got back to the cart, I slammed the half empty beer that I had waiting, and said, "man, that was a nice 4 iron!" My father just chuckled and told me I needed to work on my putting. I just ignored him

I think you read it wrong. Slammed = chugged = gulped = drank fast I'm a few years out of practice, but I can still shotgun a 12 oz can in ~2-3 sec. In my heyday, I could chug a full pint glass (16 oz) in about twice the time it took the Fox (from The Man Show). Considering he could do it in under a second, I was still incredibly fast
