What a really exciting weekend!
But so unfortunate that Massa had to have an accident like that... my heart goes out to him and his family. If Alonso didn't lose his front right wheel, I reckon it'd be even more exciting watching him and Lewis fight out for 1st place!!

Massa awake and progressing well
Felipe Massa has been taken out of an artificially-induced coma as his recovery continues, doctors told reporters in Budapest on Monday evening. The injured Ferrari driver has also been able to speak with family and medical staff. "His condition has improved significantly over the last 24 hours and he remains stable," Lajos Zsiros, chief surgeon of the Hungarian defence forces told a press conference. "We have ended sedation and taken him off the respirator.” Massa suffered a fractured skull during Saturday’s qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, after being hit by a spring from another car. He was flown from the Hungaroring circuit to the AEK military hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. "He is still sleepy, but has been able to reply to questions and has been able to move his limbs adequately," continued Zsiros, who went on to explain that it was likely to be at least a week before doctors could be sure that Massa has avoided lasting injury, though he stressed that a full recovery was possible. Responding to reports of potential damage to Massa’s left eye, Zsiros said it was too soon to confirm or deny this as the Brazilian is not yet able to open the eye sufficiently to allow for his vision to be examined. This should change over the next few days. Massa will remain in intensive care, though doctors have no plans for further sedation and his condition is expected to continue to improve. His wife, his parents, his brother and his friend and manager Nicolas Todt will spend another night at the hospital, where they will meet Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali on Tuesday.

LOL. I think it'll be fun to see how the current crop stacks up against Schu. I bet Frank Williams is having a chuckle at BMW's departure as well.

No way. It's obvious Raikkonen doesn't give two ***** anymore (not even one **** like he did at Brazil a few years back).

lol @ little Bernie Ecclestone who was telling the press yesterday that Schumi wouldn't come back because he's nowhere near as fit as he used to be.
...and I thought Bernie knew EVERYTHING!

massa's not only lucky for escaping with his life, but also lucky for getting an extra week or two with no racing going on. I got a feeling schumi's got some *** whooping left in him, and he might take massa's seat for longer than we're thinking...

Massa given the all clear in Sao Paulo
Felipe Massa has been given the blessing of doctors to continue his recuperation at home, after undergoing more tests in a Sao Paulo hospital on Tuesday. No further surgery is currently considered necessary for the Ferrari driver, who fractured his skull in a qualifying accident in Hungary. Massa flew back to Brazil on Monday, having spent nine days in Budapest’s AEK hospital. Upon arrival in his home country he was transferred to the Albert Einstein hospital, where all examinations came back negative. As a result, he was discharged. “Felipe has had a remarkable recovery," said Dino Altmann, his personal doctor. “We did a series of in-depth tests and the outcome is very encouraging so that we, together with the hospital's medical staff, decided that it wouldn't be currently necessary to further intervene from a surgical point of view. The best thing for him now is to go back home, where he can calmly convalesce and rehabilitate.” Massa lost control of his car at the Hungaroring after being struck on the head by a loose spring from the rear of Rubens Barrichello’s Brawn. No date has been set for his return to competition, though he has already said he is eager to get back behind the wheel. “I hope I'll be back on the track with Ferrari as soon as possible,” he said in an interview with the team earlier this week. The man set to replace Massa for the foreseeable future is his former team mate, and seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher, who is currently engaged in a special training programme to ensure his fitness for the European Grand Prix on August 23. Schumacher retired from Formula One competition at the end of 2006.

Michael Schumacher happy with Fernando Alonso's move to Ferrari for 2010
SUZUKA, Japan (AP) — Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher has welcomed Ferrari's signing of Fernando Alonso for the 2010 season, saying he helped lure the Spanish driver. Schumacher said on his personal Web site: "Fernando with Ferrari, that's something I like a lot. "I was involved from the very beginning in this decision and I always liked the idea." Schumacher, who won five of his record seven drivers' world championships with Ferrari, works as a consultant with the Italian team. The move of two-time champion Alonso from Renault is the most high-profile driver swap since Schumacher joined Ferrari from Benetton in 1996.
