Wizards’ Arenas to spend 30 days in halfway house
 

WASHINGTON (AP)—Suspended Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas(notes) was ordered Friday to spend 30 days in a halfway house for his conviction on gun charges stemming from a locker-room confrontation with a teammate.

District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Robert E. Morin also sentenced Arenas to 400 hours of community service, which cannot be conducted at basketball clinics, and a $5,000 fine.

Arenas apologized in court for his actions, saying, “Every day, I wake up wishing it did not happen.”

money = power = ability to get away with all sorts of sh*t

no way! remember what happened to Plaxico Burress? Jayson Williams? Michael Vick? I was actually glad that they didnt make an example out of him like they have been to athletes lately, good for him.

Athletes are not above a regular citizen just because they have money and fame!

I think the Wizards still owe him something like 81 million on his contract. I'm sure that will have no impact on what the new team owner will decide to do with him. If you're a season ticket holder I guess you're hoping they play him. I'm not so I just watch with amusement.

He will be back next season. The judge just did a slap on his hand. Now let us average people do that...it would be a different story
