Stanford or Oregon?

Pushing_Tin 11-12-2011 10:55 PM

Wow, I thought Stanford was going to be a much better opponent. Oregon should take the #4 ranking tomorrow.

cow 11-13-2011 12:08 PM

Good riddance, Boise St.

That's the next good one to watch, followed by Bedlam. Still a lot of uncertainty!

kellyefields 11-13-2011 05:50 PM

now that those posers are gone all we need is for OSU to go down to OU and the argument of a LSU Bama rematch will be viable.

cow 11-14-2011 11:10 AM

I really don't think it would be fair to see Alabama in the title game, considering that LSU (assuming they get there) will have played an extra game.

I nearly pissed myself when I saw that .gif. The "Y U NO" guys chasing made it.

Skeeterbop 11-19-2011 02:00 PM

Sooo, Will it be an LSU vs Bama or LSU vs Oregon? either way I see a rematch of one of the two games.

Still a lot of football left. LSU has to beat Arkansas and then Georgia right? Oregon has to beat USC tonight and win our new PAC-12 championship game. I thought Oklahoma might have a chance if they beat OSU, but OSU should fall to around 10 I would think and that will hurt Oklahoma in the computer rankings. If it comes down to either Bama or Oregon a case can be made for both teams to play again. I just don't want to be embarassed by the SEC again, but I think we are much improved over that first game, but LSU is too and they had Jefferson on suspension for that game.

cow 11-19-2011 06:52 PM

I'd be incredibly pissed if there was an Alabama or Oregon rematch, they won, & then after going 1-1 against LSU & ended up as national champion.

Skeeterbop 11-19-2011 06:58 PM

Personally, I don't want a rematch but I see a very real possibility that it will happen.

Pushing_Tin 11-19-2011 08:41 PM

Oregon sucks azz so far, it will be a moot point if they lose at home to University of Spoiled Children.

Skeeterbop 11-19-2011 09:11 PM

so with it nt looking good for Oregon atm, anyone willing to make a stab at the top 5 end of season rankings?

Red__Zed 11-19-2011 10:21 PM

Hoos!

Pushing_Tin 11-19-2011 10:32 PM

Wow that was embarassing. Thank god it wasn't on a national stage again. Oh well we can settle for the Rose Bowl if we can manage to win a few more. OU is going down too, crazy!

Skeeterbop 11-19-2011 11:43 PM

Yeah and Stanford didn't look to good in the first half, but they are starting to put some ground between them and Cal.

dennis26 11-20-2011 08:39 PM

After this weekend, loioks as if LSU vs AK is the new game of the week.

Lemers 11-21-2011 07:52 AM

So the question is who deserves to go to the BCS?

Alabama who's only loss was in overtime to the tuffest team in the NCAA this year or a team who lost to a team that wasn't ranked #1?

I'm glad it's back to the day after Thanksgiving.

I totally understand Alabama being there (assuming they win out), but being in the championship game having played one fewer game is one thing, but possibly going 1-1 against (assuming they make it there) LSU & thus being declare champion would be a load of crap.

It's about how you play on the big stage

cow 11-21-2011 11:11 AM

Alabama lost on their biggest stage of the season.

Just to be clear, this isn't me talking as a homer-- I try to look at things objectively, hence my understanding why Alabama probably is, to this point, the second most deserving team in the country. The possibility of going 1-1 & being "champion" chaps my ***, though.

With all that said, there's still a lot of football to be played.

I mean, I get the frustration, but the championship game is the championship game. Pro football works the same way, hell, you can go 0-2 against a team and win the division over them, and then beat them in the playoffs and and advance despite going 1-2 against them over the season.

cow 11-21-2011 12:02 PM

If there were playoffs, I'd have no issue with that situation.

And every year this is brought up, playoffs and everyone says the NCAA should go to it but never does.

cow 11-21-2011 12:08 PM

word

I shall forever boycott the NCAA... until this Friday.

Going to playoffs would fix a lot

I agree a playoff system would bring the playoff down to a bit more fair level but there are so many teams. Would the playoff only be for the top 25? Two or three playoff type brackets with the top 25 competing for the championship?

Also, it will never happens because the bowl games bring in waaaay to much money.

Pushing_Tin 11-22-2011 02:35 AM

Yup too much money with the bowl system. I'll wait until the final games are played and see if I buy off on the NC selections.

Skeeterbop 11-22-2011 09:37 PM

All I know is that I want tickets to the Alabama-Michigan opener next year in dallas, even if i know Michigan likely won't win.

kellyefields 11-23-2011 06:16 AM

there are 12 conferences out there so take the winner of each, then take the 4 highest ranked teams in the top 25 that did not win their conference and throw them in there and there you have your playoff. in a year like this one there could be 4 teams from just the SEC, talk about lopsided.

cow 11-23-2011 09:21 AM

Hypothetical bye for the conference champions?

Skeeterbop 11-23-2011 07:46 PM

While I would love to see a playoff system, realistically there are too many teams for a play off system. As much as the ranking system sucks, it's the best way to do it when you have 100+ teams in the league. Also as others have mentioned, the Bowl games bring in way to much money for the schools to want to change it up.

dennis26 11-25-2011 10:05 AM

There will never be a playoff unless ESPN figures a way to make more $ than they are getting from the bowl system in place. ESPN controls the postseason. The only reason it is O K for a rematch between Bama and LSU is because ESPN has said it would be a good thing. Just like the Pros it's all about the money.

cow 11-25-2011 10:25 AM

Word.

Pushing_Tin 11-25-2011 09:38 PM

Wow Arkansas just got owned.

cow 11-26-2011 08:43 AM

yay

Lemers 11-26-2011 09:24 AM

If you want the 2 best teams in the BCS; then name a team that has a better chance to beat LSU then Alabama.
