NASCAR 2010 - Let the Racin Begin
Any other NASCAR fans in the forum? I'm new to the "Z Land", but have been a NASCAR fan for many years (probably something in my redneck DNA) -- hoping the #5 can win some more races in 2010.
|
HELL YES
There are a bunch of us here (ignore the haters). The qualifying races today were real good... those cars were wicked loose. In our area Tony (2theextreme) and Lance (tooohip) are both fans. Maybe we can get tickets for one of the Richmond races and go as a group. |
Definitely..
#99 is due... hopefully a year full of backflips.. that is if he can stop playing frisbee and breaking feet.. ;) |
I live here in the heart of NASCAR country and have tried to get into it, but I find myself getting board after watching a few laps. It's something about racing in a circle I guess. I much prefer road racing. And I know that NASCAR has a couple of road course races. They are more intersting to watch.
Perhaps if I was to attend a NASCAR race in person I would get into it more. I've never been to one. |

As for watching on TV, I subscribe to the Trackpass services which provide near real time timing & scoring as well as the ability to listen to the drivers & crew -- for me it makes TV viewing much more interesting. |
Let the REAL Racin Season Begin
Now its time for the real season to begin -- we'll see who can find that balance of handling and & speed -- looks like at least half the Hendrick stable are picking up where they left off last year -- 24 wiil probably be OK, but seems like the #88 is still struggling based on his practice times...
Go Daddy!!! (the old weathered guy) |
Yesssss! I am butt cised for the EGR front row.
It's awesome to see Jamie Mac back at Ganassi and this time they actually have good cars. Oh, and I fully expect JPM to win a few this year. Who are your favs? I am a 24/42 fan. The GF is all about the 48. |

And I always liked Montoya back in CART/IRL/F1, so I was ecstatic when he came over to Cup. |
Did you see the last pit? That crew member jumping off the hood of one of the cars while it was pulling out lol

#5 Fan
I'm a hopeless Mark Martin fan -- same age and we grew up about 50 miles from each other. (Mark is from Batesville, I'm from Mountain Home).
I also like most of the JR stable -- I'd like to see Carl have a better year this year, but I also like the Biff & Matt. Right now, it looks like Mark has a top 5 car, maybe a top 3 -- I think the Childress cars are waiting to the end to show their stuff..... |
Damnit... there went JPM's engine.
|
I think there are several engines trying to give up the ghost today....
|
Looks like the rain is holding off and we'll probably get all the laps in. They are hauling the mail... 208 into turn 1 for the 48 car.
RCR is definitely back. They were fast today... all three of their cars. |
Looks like we are going to get this race in -- I think it will turn into a race between Childress & Hendrick.......

Congrats to the #48 -- looks like Childress has their act together this year, and most importantly -- the #5 doesn't blow an engine and moves into the top 6 in points!!!

That was a pretty good race. I have a feeling the 48 will get his 5th in a row this year.

Yes I'm a Canadian Nascar fan ...........
Going to Las Vegas to watch the Sprint race next weekend RCR supporter and Harvick fan #28 |

NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon fires entire pit crew
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: "NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon fires entire pit crew" This announcement followed Gordon's decision to take advantage of President Obama's proposal to employ gang youngsters. The decision to hire them was brought about by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Gordon's existing crew could only do it in 8 seconds with millions of dollars worth of high tech equipment. It was thought to be an excellent and bold move by Gordon's management team as most races are won or lost in the pits. At the crew's first practice session, not only was the inexperienced crew able to change all 4 wheels in under 6 seconds, but within 12 seconds they had also changed the paint scheme, altered the VIN number, and sold the car to Dale Earnhardt Jr. for 10 cases of Bud, a bag of weed, and some photos of Jeff Gordon's wife in the shower. |

OK, Time for the Vegas Race
Al-right, time for yet ANOTHER NASCAR extravaganza -- Viva Las Vegas -- Lets go racin boyz...
|
Well damn. 24 dominated but that pit call in the end killed them.
|
Yep -- I'm thinkin the #24 & #5 need to stop sharing with the #48...<grin> Still a good run for the Hendrick cars, at least three of them..... Now if Jr can start to get his act together. RCR cars still looking strong although the 31 had some bad luck today. Oh well, Hotlanta next week!
|

I'm pretty ticked at Jamie McMurray right now... lol. |
OK, another Race Sunday is upon us! Hot-Lanta this week. Although the '88 has the pole, I think he'll fade to mid pack early (or at least when they screw up the first pitstop :icon17:
I'm of course hoping the winner IS a Hendrick car (NOT the 48 or the 24). Go Mark! |

I'm going for the 24 and 42!!! |
WOW. As much as I hate Brad Kesolowski, Edwards should be benched for a race or two for that move. If he didn't hit on an angle he'd be dead.
|
yeah that was a pretty harsh move by him yesterday edwards admitted it too
|
Maybe it will make Brad think twice before he goes and wrecks people, though. He's such a punk.
|
Here's the vid
What ticked me off the most is Montoya was most likely going to catch and possibly pass Kurt as there were still 3 to go and Montoya had a much better car on longer runs. :shakes head: |
Come on it was just one of those racin deals.....:icon17:
I think Carl was sending a message, but probably should of done a better job of hiding the fact that it probably was intentional. I DO think BK is going to have to adjust his mindset racing with the big boys - some of the crap he's pulled in the Nationwide series ain't gonna fly in the Cup series. Will be interesting to see what NASCAR does to Carl -- I don't think they'll bench him, although he does drive for Jack and NASCAR doesn't mind hitting Jack where it hurts... |
My guess is he'll get a points fine and be placed on probation at minimum. Possibly he could be suspended for Bristol...
|
Press Conference @ 12:30 today to announce Edwards' penalty (if any). Rumors are he will not be suspended.
|
Probation only.. didn't park him.. no fine.. no points..
Shockingly light punishment.. |
Twitter reactions:
@KevinHarvick: i'm thinkging about asking for a refund for all of my penalties!!!! @ScottSpeed: Yo go #nascar!!! 3 race probation for Edwards! Awsome I love it!!! I bet Keslowski is scared now @RobbyGordon: Just heard the news. I wonder what would of happened to me in that situation? Hmmm someone playing favorites? :) |
Sooooo, I guess there IS some value added in taking off your sunglasses when you speak on camera....:icon17:
I will say this, the "relatively" light punishment is consistent with NASCAR's previously announced intent to place a great deal of policing back in the hands of the drivers. Got a feeling it might not be over given BK's history in the Nationwide series -- I'm sure ALL EYES will be on the #99 & #12 at Bristol in a couple of weeks. |
