But it might be relevant in that today there are reports / rumours that the RB (or at least Max's car) had a differential braking system installed on the rear axle, that was discovered and removed after China (coincidentally when we saw some performance reductions from his car). The conjecture was an asymmetric braking valve operated by G forces, that allowed more brake force (fluid) to travel to the inside rear caliper, thus improving rotation. Great idea. I have no idea if this is fact or not. Coincidentally (so I have read in posts) this exact system is now banned as of the summer break this year. |

"If you are going to win a race in Formula 1, do it in a Ferrari and do it at Monza."
I'm not the first to say that, but oh man what a victory. It was very much a combination of luck, strategy, and a driver doing exactly what he needed to do, but it made for a very good race and an incredible victory celebration. |

Baku delivered another good race.
Strange, how Max is suddenly on the back foot and Perez is doing alright. Credit where due - Checo is typically strong on street circuits. Sad to see that late race collision - it would have been a mighty battle for 2nd/3rd which likely would have put Leclerc in 4th. Great drive from Oscar. Lando too, considering the circumstances. Both Mercedes did alright, and kudos to the rookies for not binning their cars, let alone actually placing respectably well among an otherwise veteran field. This is what F1 should be like - tune in until the first three cars see the chequered flag to know the results, not just check the internet for quali results and know the outcome in advance! |

What a great race. The podium room after was also a good convo and had great insight into what was going on between Charles (didn’t expect the overtake to hold and thought he would eventually pass with DRS) and Oscar (said he felt 50/50 he would be successful with the overtake and thought Charles would pass).
Wife was not too happy from me yelling out when the crash occurred lol. We were both ‘devastated’ as we had Red Bull and Ferrari as constructors in our F1 fantasy league. The change up from start of the season to now has turned up the track drama and we are thoroughly enjoying it.

Hardly strange IMO. RB had to revert the car to a previous spec, which Sergio is more comfortable with driving. Horner recently admitted the fundamental flaw with this car stems from an evolution from an early 2023 update. Since then Max's exceptional talent was able to cope with the car, but it clearly has hit a breaking point to where even Max can't get the car to do what he wants it to do. Putting those facts aside, I believe this is the MAIN reason you never heard Max openly criticize Checo. He's even gone as far as defending him, saying "it's not like he forgot how to drive". I'm just glad this is finally coming to light. You don't have a talent like Checo who's been a Midfield warrior, challenged FA for a win in a damn Sauber his rookie year, and mastered fair and hard defensive driving against Lewis in 2021. |

Also, I'm back into F1 thanks to Oscar. No nonsense. Hard racing. Mark Webber's revenge manifested. He has an edge to him that Lando lacks. He's trending to be more consistent than Charles, and he doesn't seem to crack under pressure like Max is prone to do from time to time.
I was struggling to find a young talent I liked and could support considering Lewis IS getting older and will retire. I came to terms with that lmao. I can easily see Oscar being the next new WDC before Lando. The pass on the outside at Monza was the tipping point for me. That was a big FU moment. |

yup Max was able to make the car do things even with it not right.
another driver did that too Michel Schumacher, could simple drive what he was given regardless. Was a very interesting race.... Thou, Perez needs to relax a bit and learn to fight another day. Yea, KMAG says no sense in changing driving style. Can he get enough points in the remain races to get banned again?

Watching practice from Vegas.. it looks like they are racing in prison. I just see the track surrounded by tall fencing. It looks like there are no spectators from the TV angles..
I really dislike the street circuits.

Not sure how Sainz got away without a penalty for the last-minute deek out of the pit lane.
another bone-heded call from Ferrari. Leave him out 2 laps too long, call him in and cancel because “we weren’t ready”. WTF? The head mechanic not done getting a lap dance, or what?? Russell won it on Friday night. Vegas is Monaco at high speed. Sorry to see Gasly take an early exit not of his fault. Albon too - he was having a good race. We saw moments of the old Checo, too (But I fear too late to save his career - he’s by far the most expensive driver on the grid). Hamilton did great, and of course Max drove a champion’s race - do what you need to, and don’t wad it up. He’s not usually emotional like that, but it was a topsy-turvey year at Red Bull. |

What a stupid race Qatar was!
Losail is a lousy track to pass on at the best of times. Then, 25 laps from the end, Albon loses a mirror that sits on the only DRS / passing line in the entire circuit. And the Race Director thinks it is a good idea to just leave it there rather than bunching everyone up behind a safety car for one lap while a marshal runs across the track and retrieves it??? No, much smarter to wait until Bottas demolishes it and it will take a safety car 3 laps and a detour through pit lane to sweep up the minefield - and this only after Lewis and Sainz first get punctures from the debris. What is the IQ requirement for "Race Director"? I think that I would like to nominate my stapler for the position. In no sport is it acceptable that the actions or inactions of an official can bear on the outcome of a competition, much less a championship. That, along with the myriad penalties that they dished out, undoubtedly did just that. |
